No, you misunderstand.
It's not that the 11 year old would be better than what leeds have got.
It's just that leeds could have drafted in an 11 year old.

| I have no problem with a trophy for finishing as league leaders - the Minor Premiership or similar name is about right. It says well done for the season so far, and puts you in the best position to get to the GF.
The problem with reading too much into the league table is that because its not the main game any more, the actual standings in a close season could easily be affected by teams resting key players near the end of the season or maybe experimenting with roles - things which they almost certainly wouldn't do if the whole season was based on the league table.
I also agree that the dire WC performances have put a bit of a dampener on thoughts for next season. And really its up to the players, and particularly those of Leeds and Sts to show that they are better than that.

will our nsw hero be good will he be bad? who knows?? but im sure buderus will play more games than match winning karl pryce did in his first season at wigan.

| Quote ="Dave T"The fact is, the best team should win SuperLeague. There is an opinion that Saints are the best team (based on the fact they have finished top in the last two years - albeit by only 1 point each year), yet you have gone on to lose in the Grand Final both times, and therefore not taking the SL title.
Can you honestly say that the last two years have been a complete success and you have achieved your goals? If you say yes, I suspect you are in the minority of Saints fans, as pretty much every Saints fan I know is disappointed.'"
But Leeds are clearly the better team by timing their run to perfection 2 years running? If it was all about going for 1st spot to win the Championship then how do you know Leeds wouldn't have gone all out to make it? You can't really Say Saints have been the best by finishing 1st when it doesn't really matter, you just win a new wheel trim for your Nova.

the cup semi wasn't a grand final with the title on the line.
You can keep harping back to that semi if you want but leeds were in bad form at the time and had players dropping down like flies during the game.
Saints have been fully fit for both grand finals, and were certainly in top form for the last one.

You finished top by a point both season. How many lucky games were in there for the saints?
Last gasp wins over warrington (wait aren't ALL your wins over them last gasp? ![Laughing icon_lol.gif](//www.rlfans.com/images/smilies//icon_lol.gif) ) and wakefield, plus a number of narrow leeds losses. Like outscoring quins for tries and still losing. Like losing by a point to wigan with a kick to win it at the end but sinfield off injured.
There have been numerous examples.
Yet saints use their top spots as evidence of their supposed dominance, and this is why I refute that by arguing they have been very lucky.
You can't argue the same about the grand finals because there was no luck involved, leeds won both times, in different weather, one easily and one with a key player missing.
You got babtashed.

Leeds have 3 in the last 5.

this time leeds have the favourites tag and have that to contend with. who knows what will happen.hopefully, from my point of view, it's another leeds win but all i ask is the team does there best and if we lose to a better side then so be it.

Nope. We weren't fully fit for the 2007 grand final. Anderson made a big mistake putting Long out for his first match in weeks, instead of playing Smith who had helped us get there in the first place. Also Faz was not fit but played his first game. Also, we were totally and utterly knackered by the play off two weeks earlier. We got smashed by Leeds in 2007. In 2008, the team did not play to their potential. No excuses in 2008, which is why - I reckon anyway - so many of the fans got mad as well as disappointed. We had no reason at all not to beat Leeds at OT in 2008. We scored the first damn try. Leeds only won by one try in 2008; they won by plenty in 2007. Two totally different games and two totally different Saints sides (even though they were the same players).
But at least in 2009 we won't have that favourites tag on our heads. Thank God! Leeds are welcome to that.
