| Quote ="SomersetSaint"I disagree. We should be focussing on winning the GF, and to do that we will need to be on top form, with all our biggest players fit. There is no point winning the next few games only to limp into old Trafford and get mullered by Leeds again, or worse still, the Goons. I would prefer to aim big, than simply to aim to get into the play offs. And yes, to win at OT we need to be in the play offs, but we also need to be smart.'"
For me, though, the smart thing [iis[/i to go all out between now and the end of the season. We've seen all too clearly of late how easy it is to get into the rhythm of losing games. The win at Leeds has given us a desperately needed dose of confidence and we need to build on that, not undermine it by not taking the coming weeks seriously.

| We have no choice but to put the hammer down.
History teaches us that the team which storms up on the rails around the time of the playoffs is very, very difficult to beat - regardless of final position.
We are reasonably healthy. Walsh looks as though he has finally turned a corner. Other sides are beginning to pick up one or two serious injuries.
I mean, I'm not as confident as I would be with Walsh fully fit and combining well with Burns. But things could have been worse, too.
There can be no holding back against Cas. It's 100% or bust.

| I think the Cas game has taken on greater importance, players a bit more confidence from last week, a win for a guaranteed top 4. We need to take the bull by the horns from now on and put us back in business. We need to stop playing this percentage restrictive game, open it up and give the opposition plenty to worry about.

| Like watching the keystone cops.
I cannot believe I had to watch ANOTHER try where we give possession to the opponents in their own ten, then watch them go full length.
GET A GRIP.

It was only a week or two ago, people were wanting entertaining rugby and were spouting that they did not mind if we won or lost so long as they were entertained.
You've got tries a plenty, we'll score more than you rugby and people are still grumpy.

Come on we had a terrible defence against an average but determined team. Most other teams would have nailed us.

We missed 40+ tackles last night which normally means we lose the game. Scoring 10 try's but only allowing 7 of them is obviously showing our attacking opportunities has much improved.

| We did win. It was an iffy performance, undoubtedly, but our games at Wheldon Rd have hardly ever been straightforward, even during the all-conquering years. The fact is we played poorly and found a way to win. I'll take that.

A wins a win.
I used to post fairly prolifically, going OTT on analysing every game, but it just took away the joy of the game.
Were are the posts about a hat trick for swift or length of the field wonder tries.
Don't get me wrong I can moan with the best but the balance seems a little off for me. No joy in the moment of the win just depression that it's not gf winning form.

AT LAST someone else realises what a bunch of negative moaners post on here.
Am I happy with how we played - NO. But as a spectacle that was one hell of a game and must have been very entertaining for the neutral.

| To be fair to Swifty - he's a fighter.
Even though he makes mistakes he always comes back swinging.
Five hat-tricks at his age?
How many did Les Quirk get in his career? And he had far better service.

When people want a scapegoat then swifty is always near the top and im baffled why. He takes the ball up hard and strong and he's pretty small but full of heart.
His try scoring record is very good for a lad his age and in a team that doesn't really hit the ball wide.
I think he's a pretty solid player

| Mistakes are always more obvious on the wing and at full-back.
I honestly don't think Swifty helps his cause by consistently beating himself up after an error.
I mentioned Luke Gale's performances on the VT and the fact that his form is currently excellent. When Gale makes a mistake he just puts it behind him and carries on.
He doesn't stand there shouting at himself for five minutes.

| Agree with Mugwump on the nature of Swift's mistakes, they always seem more noticeable and as a result gets slated for it. But he always picks himself up from them. He's always putting his hand up to do work when trying to get out our half, he runs himself into the ground for the club.
Didn't he only get taken on late? I think he knows he shouldn't take it for granted and as a result gives 100% all the time.
His try scoring record is brilliant, I love having him and Tommy on the wings because they'll always give 100% and I think we'll see them as our wingers for some time yet.

It's certainly brilliant - given the minimal quantity of ball both have seen lately.

Tommy put some timber on during his spell out injured. He looks like he's struggling with fitness but he was out a long time. Hopefully he will hit full fitness for the semis

Yeah I agree, Swift's work rate has been very good this year. He comes up with the occasional howler but it's a trade off I'm happy to make, especially with his pace. Yeah at u19s level he was still on pay as you play for some time, he played as a stand off too from what I remember of him dancing past me to score.

I reckon Swifty could play wing, full back and running stand off with the confidence he has gained this season, good work rate he's worked hard on his game this year.

I've not seen any indication his passing is good enough to play fullback or stand off (running stand off or not). I really rate him as a winger but it's very rare his decision making with the ball gets challenged there. I wouldn't mind seeing it out of curiosity with him maybe at fullback in a friendly, but if Saints haven't entertained the possibility yet, there's probably a good reason for it.
