It's quality that counts, not quantity. Saints fans are quality. They sounded great on the TV today.

I couldn't really tell how many there were at the game, but I've watched it back on tv since and it seems there were only about 400.

I would personally cheer for a yorkshire team apart from hull kr if i was supporting a yorkshire team myself, but one more person in kc contributes money so thanks all the same.

As a Hull fan i thought the away support was tremendous in terms of backing but poor in terms of numbers. Fair play to those who came at the end of the bank hol weekend. I include myself in that as I live about 10 miles north of St Helens!

Just how many away fans ever bothered to come to Knowsley Road, or Widnes this year for that matter in a superior stadium?

Pound for pound we take as many away fans to games as most teams do and far more than some in SL.

Of the teams that visit us I'd say only Wigan and Warrington bring 1500-3000 on occasions. Behind them everyone brings less than a 1000(generally) with the likes of Wakey, Salford, Hudds Cas, Hull KR and Quins, Crusaders bringing less than 500 and as low as 50 for some of those.

Let's geat real here as I go away whenever possible and know for a fact that it's very rare for Saints to have less than a 1000 travelling fans at venues like the HJ, the DW, Galpharm, Headingley, Odsal, Castleford, Wrexham, the Willows and Wakefield, etc.

If every team brought the away support we take to them, our attendaces would be up between 500-700 per game at least.

We don't need to justify it or make excuses when on a rare occasion we have a low away turnout. Last year at Hull we nearly filed our end in another cracking match. So this was a bit of a blip in difficult financial times.

£44 admission,even though the kids were free with their seaso tickets
£15 at the Viking Fisheries chippy(worth every penny btw)
£10 for a round of drinks in the pub

Not everyone has the money to be going to away matches.I never comment on away support as at times its expensive enough to watch your team at home.Don't forget,every 'home' match is an away match in terms of travel fo saints fans this year.Oh and the match was on sky,but that should make people want to watch it live,not listen to the Muppet Show.
