I think we could get a player that could do just as good a job for less money.

Ferriol would be great, but his contract runs until the end of 2010.

Like others have suggested, too expensive for a prop. Better to import from Australia in problem positions were there is a lack of quality in England.

A great physical old school prop.

In reality we are not just one prop short at the moment we are 2 or 3 props short.

James Graham is the only guy we have that looks like an international for us at the moment.

Hargreaves is a good worker but is not good enough to be a number 2 prop. Good squad fodder.

Maurie has lacked his impact this season. He would benefit from a good signing to take the workload off him if he is expected to recover some form.

Cayless seems to have one foot on the plane back home.

Frodsham looks good but is a year off being strong enough to play week in week out.

Emmitt and Yate are untried.

Tony P and Clough are second rows who are poorly used as props.

Shrek is a good signing in my eyes.

Ferriol is a great player. But he is not a young man and has previous drugs bans.

I dont think we are going to get a big, hard running prop for pennies, the front row is a vital part of any attack and we must have squillions left under the cap after the departures last year

Good post.
-We have Graham who's a top prop.
-We have Fa'as who is more effective in short bursts and isn't really solid enough to start.
-We have Hargreaves, who is an admirble performer and is good squad cover, but doesn't have the ability we require in a starting prop.
-We have Clough, who's efforts are fantastic and is capable of being pushed into the front row when needed, but should remain a back row for the next few years at least.
-We have Puletua, who's awesome, but in a perfect world would be used as a back row in our squad.
-We have Cayless, who is ready for the glue factory.

We're in a funny place I think - if Graham got injured, we'd be absolutely screwed, but if we added just one top prop (be it O'Mealy, Luke Bailey or someone similar) I think we'd be [iextremely[/i hard to beat.

Roby, Faas, Puletua, and an other.

Oh, and props are definatley worth spending the money on.

maurie has possibly been our best prop recently. Good go forward and playing longer stints than he is used to. Clough and tony p can cover prop no problem i dont know why you say poorly. O meley is overrated in my opinion but does like to mix it up which i think we could with.

I know back in 2004ish he was very highly rated, but I think his wage demands shot up (if i'm not mistaken) when he hawked himself around. If he's still making those demands and not performing the same, then steer clear.

I think a good, without being great prop would suffice and not cost us the earth. I'm a big fan of L Burgess, but would assume he's not available. What's Mace the Ace up to these days? It would mean releasing Hargreaves though for squad space (don't tell ski). When's his contract up?

Anyway, O'Meley seems like just another anonymous NRL random. If he's struggling with the NRL, we certainly don't want to take him on do we.

He's a player of some pedigree, although I'm not sure if he's still pushing for rep honours after dramatically bursting onto the scene a few years back.

put the money towards a bid for sam burgess.then with graham we've got the cornerstone of our pack for the future.

But they're trying to speed up the play of the ball down under, whereas we're trying to slow it down, I think.

You'd definitely hope so. Quality young british props are very rare.
