| Then apologies for that , it just seems like every time we get some good news about the Stadium or the club somebody has a pop , gets very tedious as I say , we are finally in the home stretch ready to start a new era , we need to be upbeat about the future , so again sorry for maligning you

No worries, it is my nature to be cautious about positivity, but the stadium is one thing I'm 100% behind, I even supported it through claddinggate when most other people were having hissy fits.
The 'Langtree Park' writing on the ground looks awesome. Once the cladding is up it's going to look stellar. I just need to sort out my parking spot. I have no idea where to park. I did think the retail park, but it seems thats off limits.

| It's a shame in a way that you're getting (or you appear to be getting) a sponsor from day one, as generally, whatever the stadium is called first is the name that sticks.
For instance, most people still call the DW stadium, the JJB. Even though this is the name that is now used on all official documents, in the media and in the press. Similarly, I can't imagine anyone habitually calling the City of Manchester Stadium, "The Etihad" anytime soon.
Therefore, wouldn't it be great if, just for one year or maybe two, the St Helens directors would stop thinking of their wallets and hold off getting a sponsor, giving the stadium a proper name and THEN getting a sponsor in a couple of years. That would give the fans the opportunity to have a proper 'home' name for them to use, but of course the media etc would still be obliged to use the corporate name, thus still getting full sponsorship value from it.

Langtree Park is the name of the site as well, so it would have been no different.

| Considering the stadium name was always likely to be dictated by sponsorship I think you've got a cracking name tbh. Can't wait for the first game

I don't particularly like it. It's not causing me to go into rage but it's a pretty nondescript and unimaginative which is a shame. Still it is a minor issue and one that won't impact upon our majesty.

So do I. I think it sounds really classy.
That's if the name we see is all there is to it. There may be something else to come.

| I like it. Langtree Park is a name that could stick, depending of course on the financial details to be revealed tomorrow.
I wouldn't be surprised though if this was a short term fallback because we've not managed to get a meaningful deal out of a big company, possibly contra-ing money we owe them for the stadium. Very few throwing sponsorship around when we're about to go into recession again.

Typhoo were very happy to throw a two year sponsorship deal around, Hattons a five year deal and that brewery a five year deal so my guess is you're talking out of your anus ma boy!
Meanwhile, back on Planet Positive, I think it would be great for Langtree to sponsor our stadium. What a way to expand their profile. And it would be great for Saints if Langtree were the stadium sponsors as Langtree is a local company and engaging local companies (rightly IMO) appears to be the policy of McManus.
I love McManus Drive. That's just fab.

No, clearly not. It'll be interesting to find out how long term the Langtree deal is. The Typhoo and Hattons deals will not be mega amounts. The brewery deal will probably be profitable for Robinsons as they will be taking a huge slice of the takings at the bars in the ground.

Hull don't own their own ground. (and share with football)
Leeds don't own their own ground.
Warrington don't own 'all' their own ground.
Huddersfield used to own 20% of their ground, but don't own any of it now. (and share with football).
You really could have chosen better examples.

Hence the Central Park project at Wigan.
Do a bit of research.
Hull, Huddersfield etc do not own their own grounds

Totally agree. The name is very easy on the tongue, and has the big advantage that it doesnt even sound like a sponsored stadium, which will mean the media will use it without any thought about giving away free advertising.
The name is also A-political which isnt really the case with getting sponsored by certain companies.
Langtree are onto a winner with this as even if after a number of years they fail to renew the sponsorship, people will probably still refer to it as Langtree park.
Using park in the name also conjures up legendary sporting venues such as Lang Park, Croke Park, Villa Park, St.James Park, Fenway Park, and dare i say it Central Park. The last one in particular will be a subtle and cruel reminder to all pies of what they used to have. Especially when they walk past Tesco's to get to our stadium.
