well we're all entitled to our opinion on here and i wont argue with yours,but thats not the way i saw it.perhaps the game turned because the changes resulted in ablett being taken off,the weakest link.if that was genius,then a good coach should not have picked ablett in the first place!

btw,i have it on very good authority that we are well below the salary cap,ready for a mid season signing if available or needed.talau left because he wanted a 2 yr contract,at his age saints only wanted to offer him one,he declined.

Ablett was picked because we were short in the centres. A good coach can move things around and by sticking Gaz and Keef at centre we were better. Abs was better playing Loose when he came on.

Fair enough on Talau, it might prove to be a wise move. Only time will tell.

Watkins is not ready to play in the GF. He has played well when he has come onto the first team but to play him in a GF? especially after the beating you gave us in the semi. Personally, i would have gone with Gaz from the start but i only coach 11's.

There's nothing mysterious about not having the wonga to buy in lots of top stars, presumably from Aus. Anyway I thought the new way forward was to promote from within.

Personally I think a very stable squad has been the key to our success. The only other team that has had almost no recruitment in recent seasons has been Leeds and they're back to back champs.

I'm worried about next year, but then I was worried about 2006, 2007 and 2008 and there's only 2 domestic trophies we didn't win in those three seasons put together.

As Norvern_Soul said, if we won the league from 8th i'd be more than happy to get beaten by Wigan and Warrington. Infact what the hell, let's go for it, i'd settle for getting nilled by them.

I too would have to put up with Wire fans but i really couldn't care less. Sure beating them is nice but so long as we make the play-offs it's irrelevant.

So can i take it from your comment that you would rather us beat Wigan and Warrington every year, finish top but bottle the final rather than get beaten by them both and winning the GF.

As for 2009 being the most anticipated season. For me it's not.

A terrible WC doesn't fill me with confidence in our players and our squad is one year older.

Leeds have won 3 in the last 5 years, and just because they finished behind saints (by one sodding point) a couple of times people think saints have been dominant.

They haven't.

They just got lucky in a few close run league games when leeds didn't.

They don't look back at the playoffs and say, well saints thrashed leeds and their fans sang champions? you're aving a larf.

Saints have looked good against crap teams when they get 50 penalties a game, scoot from dummy half and score tries.

But in big, pressure games when it's all on the line, they have been poor against leeds 2 seasons running.

Leeds could have drafted in an 11 year old fro the grand final.

And still won.

You could argue that if there was any luck involved in the finals.

Like for example, if leeds had won 8-6 or 19-18, with highly controversial video ref decisions.
