Like any of the big teams we should be battling it out at the end of the year and will be barring serious injuries to key players.'"
Got rid of most of that crew thank God.We seem to be playing with a bit more passion now.

| Wellens is too slow and should be moved to 13.
Gilmour and Long shouldn't have gone, both had 2 good years left in them at least.
Puletua to interchange with Fa'asavlau.
Soliola and Fozzard shouldn't have been signed and Moore should have been loaned out for this season also untill KFC retires.
Meli and Flannery should be binned off too.
My team if I were Saints coach.
1- Lomax/Pryce
2- Gardner
3- Gidley
4- Pryce/Gilmour
5- Wheeler
6- Eastmond
7- Long
8- Graham
9- KFC
10- Puletua
11- Gilmour/Clough
12- Wilkin
13- Wellens
14- Roby
15- Puletua
16- Fa'asavalu
17- Clough/Hargreaves

Yes but we could run from deep, maybe even a dummy runner or two.
Just a tiny little bit of imagination would do . We must be the easiest team to defend against as we offer no deception at all.
Your right about our pace obviousley but were strugling to score from ten out nevermind full lengthers.

| Funny, I got a lot of flack for suggesting Pryce should play centre (for England). He's a great athlete with strength and speed and he does have good hands. What he is not is a great stand off. As others have said I'd doubt he'll be the best partner for Eastmond as well.
Remember though, this is game 1 of a very long season. We all know that some sides that have started well this year will drop off alarmningly at some stage as injuries bite and also as we hit drier firmer pitches.

| I have always said Pryce is a good 'player' not a good 'stand off', he will never be a stand off as long as he has a hole in his @r5e.

| Pryce aint the only player not playing well! I've forgot the last time KC, gidley, flannery, wilkin and few others played well but all the slagging off is aimed at pryce.
We've got a current england international who's had one good game for saints over the last 3 years but always gets backed on here.

I did say few others as well. To be honest i could have listed the whole squad.
Just think that pryce is getting all the $hit when the whole team has played crap since potter took over.

| Watched the game again, you seem to missing an organiser, eastmond might one day make a fantastic 7, but at the moment his game is all about running, so would be suited IMO more to 6.
I always liked the look of Matty Smith when he played for Saints, thought he also did a good job last season for CC, when he played.
If Smith was still at Saints yiu could play him 7, Eastmond 6 and Pryce at centre. If salary cap was the reason for him being loaned out, dont renew Cunningham as you have two great young hookers ready to take over.

I think Pryce gets unwarranted character based criticism (lazy, greedy etc.), but the reason he's taking flak is that he's filling an absolutely crucial position in the side. With a more natural stand off the rest of the players you mention might have more space and time to do their thing.

Lomax
Gardner
Gidley
Wheeler
Meli
Eastmond
Moore
Fozzard
Cunningham
Graham
Soliola
Wilkin
Pryce
Roby
Puletua
Fasssavalou (sp)
Hargreaves
Reasoning it would add a bit of much needed pace in the backs, and that bench is flexible enough to cover for most changes necessary during the game plus it would let you have two big forwards who could make some impact.
In the off season I would think you would need to sign a halfback to let Moore replace Cunningham and one or two centres to replace Gidley and Wheeler (if you decide to move Wheeler to stand off)

We're awash with halfbacks. Wheeler, Lomax and Eastmond are all halfbacks and we have Ellis and our new guy waiting in the wings too. That's discounting Smith on loan, of course, who is also a halfback. We don't need to sign any halfbacks! A good prop wouldn't go amiss though along with two pacey wingers and a couple of centres.

The problem we have is all of them are inexperienced.
I'm starting to think we should look at bringing Smith back to play alongside Eastmond, he's had 3 or 4 years SL experience now and has a solid kicking game. He's likely to turn into a Paul Deacon clone as his career progresses IMO, solid at best, but perhaps that's what we need at the moment.
