| Quote ="SaintsFan"And of course you do.
Not too many posts back it was all about the performance and style of rugby. Now there is something going on behind the scenes that I don't know about but you do? C'mon Pete. Even for you that's a bit obvious!'"
Yes I do know what went on behind the scenes over the last week and half and to be honest I'm glad it went on or we'd still have thus clueless clown coaching the team.
To say that KC could lose his god like status at saints by helping out mike rush is just laughable and it's nothing like murphy being remembered as a bad coach and not great player.
Alex was the fulltime coach, KC has been asked to assist rush as we are in massive trouble. I'd say KC might have lost his god like status if he'd refused to help the club he's loved since he was born.
Your just trying to deflect future Blame on KC and rush if we lose as you was a Royce Simmons fan because you liked his first interview.
How you can be so blind to fact that Royce was the worst coaching appomitnent this club have made for the past 20 years is unreal. You called potter a cardboard cut out but all I've seen for past year and half is a clueless man stood in the back ground of KP and looking very very confused.

Now you're being childish again. I'm concerned for KC actually. I rather think Mr Big has heaped a whole load of pressure on to him that could ruin his reputation if it all goes wrong. And it could all go very wrong.

Because I don't think he was the worst coaching appointment and it is in no way a fact. It's not a question of being blind; it's a question of disagreeing with your opinion. Mr Big sacked Millward. Just because he sacks coaches doesn't mean the coaches are poor. They just don't fit with what he wants for the club. After all, he sacked Purtill too and Purtill was around under Potter.

Providing you "buddy" does know what went on then you'll see why I'm not going to listen to the wello podcast.
No way will KC lose any respect with the fans for what he's done for us on the pitch, no way at all!
McManus sacked millward for off the fieid reasons and not for on the fieid reasons. In fact when and who was the last coach to be sacked for poor results?

Does anyone actually know the real reason for Millward being sacked? Personally my theory is that McManus didn't like him. That would be all that was necessary for McManus to sack someone.
Was Eric Hughes sacked for results? I can't remember.

I think Ian millward thought he'd become bigger than the club and was untouchable with the things he was doing. Players was also starting to get embarrassed by some of the field stuff.
I think it was Eric Hughes that was last coach sacked for results. Hughes has tough job at the time and is nice fella.

From what Ian Millward said once in an article in the trade press, the problem was solely between him and McManus.

Is that fact or supposition? And if it is fact, what exactly does 'off the rails' mean? Just asking as I don't know on either count.

Well, I [icould [/isay it's a fact. And you [icould [/isay it's unsubstantiated without me spelling it out, in an open, public forum, in a country with some of the most draconian freedom of speech laws in the world.

I am sure we can safely assume that I ask within the context of an Internet forum, ie not silly gossip mongering but rather a claim that could be substantiated objectively by a third party given the appropriate circumstances.
I really have no idea what happened, which is why I am asking, because I didn't follow Saints at that time. I watched some matches on TV and heard my family go on and on about it but that's it.

| Surely Millwards downfall was swearing at the Warrington press officer. In the end it was the thin end of a wedge that had built over time. Read Scully's book, he told him to his face that he did not like the way he treated some of our kids.
Millwards is the most successful Saints coach, I also think sacking him when we did was a mistake. For me if the club had just quitely built a case with no suspension, then I think we would have got at least one more trophy that year. We where top of the league, in the semi of the cup and going great. I'm not against the sacking, just the timing. No-one not even our best ever coach is above the club or the chairman.
But Millward was certainly not sacked for results, unless you can be sacked for having results that were too good.

You cannot put off sacking somebody because the timing is not right, and I dont think you can just sack a coach for non-results related matters you must first suspend.

Millward coached Saints between 2000 - 2005 and won 2 SL titles, 2 Challenge Cups and 1 WCC.
Anderson coached Saints 2005 - 2008 and won 1 SL title, 3 Challenge Cups, 1 WCC and 4 League Leaders shields.
Anderson won more silverware in a shorter period so surely that makes him our most successful coach and proves the sacking of Millward was correct??

I did not argue that the sacking was wrong, but the timing really disrupted our season, hence knocking off another possible GF and CC from the clubs records. Also Millward could not win anything in 2005 he was sacked.
When counting league leaders shields Millward had 1 and a half. Anderson 3 and half. 2005 split.
We can all bend stats to suit our own agenda, but I'd argue that Millward was more successful, but its the difference between very successful and very successful.
