too true. See him on Raw last night?
Put Cena to shame. Get the feeling there might be some real heat there. If not he is selling it well.

| Quote ="SaintMarshy"Obviously the reason Eastmond hasn't gone now is because Bath didn't want to pay the transfer fee so they're "willing" to accept that he won't have much time to prepare.
I expect he'll be making many "unofficial" visits to Bath during this Super League season, familiarizing himself with his new surroundings, teammates and maybe even training with them

Hope he does and get's injured. The comp Bath would have to pay would dwarf a transfer fee (Ithink)

He'll be fit, no doubt, but he'll have played a whole season of Super League and then be going on to begin a new season of rugby union almost instantly? Surely his body will need a rest, especially given his "biscuit bones" status.

| Quote ="Billinge_Lump"Let's not forget he wasn't due back from injury yet, a factor to his performances that does not appear to be factored into this 'greed' argument.
How many other 20 year old players play or played with the organising ability that many are expecting from Eastmond, and the name Murphy is banned. Long certainly didn't, Martyn did most of that for him. I think we'll see another player once Pryce is back and he hits fitness. Of course that probably won't be good enough for many who'll try and hound him out of the club before season end, even if it means that the club is poorer for it. Of course he may not bother and put in half hearted performances, in that case the best case is to get rid as soon as possible, but people are condemning him for something that hasn't happened yet. Players play with players going elsewhere every year. It's part of the game and they know it, so if he's not trying 100%, they'll let him know, so I can't see it being a major problem for them.'"

| He is not a huge loss to you IMO, Leon is what makes you tick when on the island!!
Eastmond is very over rated and I feel sure he will be back to RL very quickly for the simple reason he will fail to find anyone who panders him like saints did..
as a saints fan i would feel very let down by him personally

I think I'd rather he does a Lee Smith. Stays there for 6 months, hates it and comes back to us on a much cheaper contract.
The whole debacle has been mishandled, and bar the walking off on Friday, I'm not convinced it's all been down to him despite him getting all the blame. I think the delay in the announcement has been due to a combination of factors, but mostly his adviser (who let's not forget has previous with us) and the club.

Strange that, I've just watched him on Granada reports saying we couldn't compete with the Yawnion salary cap. WTF?

| I just hope, as fans, we're able to conduct ourselves with a bit of class here.
Booing / abusing him from the terraces can only have a negative impact on the team, and whatever your thoughts on his decision and manner in which he went about making it, there are 16 other blokes out there in the red vee who are worthy of playing in front of positive support.
You might feel he's shown a lack of class by turning his back on the club that has invested in him at virtually the first opportunity, but we can rise above it as fans - and must do to prevent the rest of the season descending into pantomime.

Apparently, he has always wanted to play union, that must be why he has played League since the age of 11...

| To be honest what do you really expect him to say? If it really is all about money he'd hardly come out and say it. It just makes me laugh when those jumping ship talk about 'challenges' when in many cases they haven't actually done/won anything much in league. If you want a 'challenge' how about a really big one - trying to help England compete with Australia in RL.

Does that count as a bit of class?

| We should continue to play Eastmond this season, he's the best 7 we've got. Let one of the others step up and make a case, let's face it Eastmond will miss games through injury just like most young players do.
Regarding his long-term replacement, we had an organising 7 play for us in last year's Grand Final. Was he not MOM in the semi? We could do worse.

| If I were Saints I would drop him into the reserves for the season and blood another youngster. He is contracted to the club for the season, so they have every right to do this. If the reason he is going is only money, as I understand Saints offered him the same. Then I would feel peeved off after having brought him through from being 13 and spent time and money on him.
I would certainly hang on to him for the rest of his contract at reserve team level, and he would be going to Bath undercooked, and they would have to spend time bringing him back up to level. ( If his legs and ankles hold up.!!!!!

Why be that childish with him? If the club doesn't want to play him in the first team (And he's promised 100% effort) then they should have the grace to release him and pay him in full.
Leaving for Union is a big call and no doubt he has been poorly advised. But watching Union internationals on the TV must play a huge part in it. Their sport is bigger and it is a better spectacle at international level.
But there is also the Lee Smith situation. There is a chance Kyle won't be able to make the switch in terms of moving away for the first time, or the technical nature of the sport and he could be wanting to come back after 12 months. We'd be daft to have burnt those bridges as he is clearly a very, very talented player. We will not replace him with someone as talented as he is, that is for sure.

There's nothing childish about it. We have other young players who are contracted to us next season and who could be our replacement halfback if given the chance to prove themselves on the pitch. Why should we push those lads out by buying in? Surely they should be given the opportunity to show everyone what they can do before we bring someone from down under or wherever? This is an ideal chance for that to happen. Kyle could be the backline cover on the bench that Simmons wants to retain in case of injury.
And I don't believe for one minute that there isn't someone as talented or in fact more talented as Kyle Eastmond out there.

| We won't drop him because he's still a Saints player until the end of the year. Pryce and Graham are off contract and likely to move at the end of the season and we won't drop those two either.
All this talk of putting him in the reserves is stupid and petty.

No, he was MoM in the first play off game.
He was then anonymous in the Qualifying Play Off and the Grand Final. And whilst we could do worse than a player who cannot hold down the 7 shirt at Salford, we can do far, far, better.
