Must admit I was getting concerned with the lack of news and the length of time the tender process was taking, so I went to the top and asked, the reply is posted in my previous post.

As I have previously stated. Three months is no time at all in respect of any scheme, never mind one with multiple end users.

Fair enough. I've no idea how long these things take, so I'll worry once it's announced that the whole project has collapsed. It's not as if we can affect it either way now anyway.

should imagine by now, that the bonds will be in place, that will allow the council to build/finish the stadium should it all collapse

| The 'it'll take as long as it takes' attitude is all well and good but the club tell us we will be in the new ground at a certain date, when it's plain to see we wont.
If the club come out and said - look, we haven't got a clue how long this will take, so stop asking - we'll be in when we're in'. Then I think people (me) would stop getting expectations up.
If scrutinising the tenders takes a year then fine it takes a year, just don't tell me it will take 6 weeks.
Widnes here we come.

For security/benefit of the Council as planning authority, a bond should be
put in place of sufficient amount to fund the construction costs of the
stadium. The bond should be put in place upon commencement of
construction of the stadium. The Council cannot call upon the bond unless
the 4 year period in (b) has expired without practical completion of the stadium. The bond amount will be for the full construction cost of the
stadium. It will be reduced monthly based upon the valuation of the work
carried out under the stadium construction contract such that at practical
completion it will be reduced to 1.5% of the total and be fully released 12
months thereafter. If the bond is drawn upon the Council will be
guaranteed access to the site to complete the works.

| OK everybody some pictures of the chaos round the stadium site,
first of all what they have done to the site so far
Macdonalds roundabout looking towards sherdley , only a short stretch of road down to one lane
looking up the hill towards macdonalds entering st Helens, from the bridge, there is aonly one lane closed coming IN, going up the hill seems clear
some shots of the site
looking past the site towards macdonalds roundabout
Mining monument roundabout loking towards KFC only one lane closed halfway along the road
towards macdonalds again
and finally looking towards Tescos

What was traffic like this morning, or have you changed your route? It was incredibly slow yesterday, so I avoided it completely this morning.

| To be honest I go up peasley cross road and join the roundabout at the top by Macdonalds , it seems easier than struggling up past the site.
Coming home I come back down there past Maccys again the traffic is usually quiet by the time I get into St Helens about 10 past 6 so its not too bad , Ironically the pictures were taken on Sunday which looked far woorse than when I use it

| For the first time I actually believed the build timescales that the club advised which would have meant the project starting about now! especially as its our last season at KR
However I had a chat with some wire fans who work for some construction company involved with the tender process and they say nothing has been decided at this time as to who's got the job. Obviously they are hoping its Barrs as they would do the foundations and footings for the stadium.
When it comes to steelwork and the subcontracting out of the various phases are we realistically looking at months rather than weeks.
I hope I am wrong but the loud silence from the club is worrying me.

Not necessarily. Should Barr be successful, they have in-house capabilities for; steelwork, precast concrete (terrace units) and cladding. Bowmer and Kirkland also have steelwork and cladding as part of their group structure.

Just reading your post shows how tricky finding the best value for money tender application.
Barr also have an agreement with Tesco, dont know if that would be of any help to Barr with this tender.

Bowmer and Kirkland are bidding as a joint venture. B&K are looking at the Tesco side of things and a Leeds based contractor is looking at the stadium side (can't think of their name at the mo).
As for the precast side of things, are you saying they would be cast in-situ? I really can't see that as bringing the moulds to site would be as big a logistical task as bringing the units to site. That is even before considering the space required.
The only guys who have the capablity locally to manufacture terrace units are based in Bolton, but at the end of the day it will be a commercial decision.

| So, given there are a few bods posting on this thread that appear to have a bit more knowledge than 'Why aren't I being told anything. It's a disgrace!' type posts, a question.
Seeing as there are still buildings on the land that don't look like they've been touched since the big one came down, and the land is reported to need some kind of decontamination, is this groundwork be factored into the build time or will be added on? And will they wait for the road to be finished before starting it so the heavy equipment will have access to the site?

The reason behind no news, I would imagine, is there is no news to tell. Procuring construction work is incomparable to almost every other form of procurement.
