| Quote ="St pete" hudds and wigan slow the game down so much it is spoiling the sport ? Super league is not so great to watch anymore, its like watching two players lay on someone with the ball for 80 mins.'"
I have to say that i fully agree with your quote there St pete, the danger we have is that if other teams start to employ the same spoiling tactics at the play-the-ball, we will be in great danger of taking our sport back "decades" and the excitement will simply drain from the game. What would you prefer to see, teams playing against each other that have "both" perfected the speedy play the ball, or teams that spend half the time on the floor trying to slow the game down as much as possible? In my opinion it is up to other teams to catch up and perfect the style of play that St`s "have" managed to perfect over recent years, not just to simply do their very best to do nothing more than employ spoiling tactics to slow our game down.

| all the quick play the ball does is let the scooting hooker play more nothing else really. We are wrestling more in the tackleto get the dominant position when the tackled player hits the floor, thus enabling us to control the ruck. Happened for years with Aussie teams and their national side. All we have done is got 2 experienced NRL coaches and they have adopted it. Do you see the Aussie games decades behind ours? If not then what teams are doing will not take our game back decades.

The "BIG" problem that we experience when playing the Aussies, is that the RFL constantly "Bow down" to the Aussies whinging and allow games to be refereed in a way that suits their style of play, i am yet to see a game against them where the refs clamp down on the ruck area and allow the speedy play the ball, the Aussies are seemingly "very worried" about coming up against this style of play, hence the "None-Stop whinging"from them, when it comes to referees and refereeing styles when they are to play against GB/England. And for what its worth, i live in England and pay to watch Superleague not Aussie RL, its obout time that everyone, (RFL/press/fans etc), rid themselves of this "fixation/fascination" with everything that is Australian and start to concentrate on British Rugbyleague and not try copy everything they do, maybe then we can move forward internationally, because in my opinion, nowdays the British game is far more exciting that the Aussie product!

| Ignore the Goons trying to hi-jack the thread.
Awesome performance by all concerned.
Has Flanno let Senior out of his pocket yet?
I knew we had em when McGuire well and truly spat his dummy at young Foster in the second half. Like a spoilt child. What a total ar$e.

Its is copied because they are always 1 step ahead of us in everything we do. You pay to watch rugby league and like it or not is played in both countries. The aussies play the game a lot faster than us but still adopt the wrestle in the tackle. Its all about playing with ball in hand and not relying on the hooker scooting all the time to make plays. If thae game as Wigan and Hudds play slows the game down how is it that over 60 points were scored at the DW on Friday and we put 50 past Wakey, it is because teams are still stuck in the mould of scooting. Well times have changed and its time for other teams to catch up.

| I think the speed of the ptb is pretty much spot on this year.
Teams getting numbers into the tackle can slow it down, but are being forced into getting off cleanly by being penalised for offences such as having the hands in more often, and are not being allowed to lie on for more than a few seconds once the tackle has actually been made.
We're getting more set defences (which we need to help develop skilful players), but the game is not the boreathon it was at times last year. I don't understand the constant whinging about it on the Sky coverage, dummy half running can be exciting when it is used occasionally, constant 5 drives of dummy half running and then a play is not. We may as well be watching contact basketball.

| As a Leeds fan I have to agree....the quick play the ball behind a dominant pack is what allows us to demolish teams....last night you did it to us. (The amount of possession, repeat sets and penalties conceded by a 'woeful' Leeds helped too).
You obviously raised your game ...as a lot of teams will do against the "champions" (esp because of three recent GF's ). Credit to you though for the seemingly patched up team epitomised by Graham's tracking back on Burrow at the end. It's spirit like that which makes me admire these guys who play our game. They ALL deserve to keep their places: the importance of a good goalkicker was also highlighted. Sinny had a relatively off day; your young lad was awesome.
I am trying to convert my Rugby Union immersed and indoctrinated son....watching Leeds against Hull in the cup and then your win over us is far more convincing than the spoiling wrestling tactics that Huddersfield and Wigan have recently perfected. Good luck to them for taking advantage(can't blame them)....BUT the RL really does need to try getting some clear ground rules established as to what is acceptable. Two refs would help...but we already struggle with the levels of refereeing competency and consistency....how on earth would we find enough of the calibre we need ?? The 'wrestle' looks like it's here to stay unfortunately.

not a lot to say thought saints played really well especially and worringly with quite a few missing. We were poor but thing that had a lot to do with saints out playing us and putting us under lots of pressure. Think it's bit disrespectful to saints to just say we were poor. We played as well as we were allowed.

rubbish. Unforced errors, no repeat sets, poor disipline. totally robbed for the no try obstruction when there wasn't one. we never bounced back from that. we let ourselves down. Plus sanits playing well. bulid pressure, fast up the middle, better disipline. Good kicking game. it's not like both teams were on top form and saints nicked it! we got hammered cos we were crap and saints were good!

There was a clear obstruction, IMO. The Leeds player (JJB?) ran straight into the Saints player (Moore?), and knocked him back and stopped him putting McGuire under more pressure and possibly getting to him. The Leeds player could have quite easily angled his run slightly better and gone into the gap at the side of the Saints player. Definite obstruction, IMO.

your having a laugh mate you see it every week. he would have got nowhere near mcguire. jjb runs his line moor gambles on him getting the ball. It was a miss read. it was a very poor call from child. But some you get some you don't ! Let's see if we both have the same convictions when the call goes the other way for our respective teams?

He ran straight into Moore, I didn't say that Moore would have got to McGuire, but he would have put more pressure on McGuire, which may have resulted in a poorer pass. Leeds are the first to throw there hands in the air and scream for obstruction when the opposition scores a try, on this occasion, i think it was obstruction. Moore doesn't tackle JJB, he is drifting across, and JJB stops him moving up towards McGuire, hence it's obstruction. JJB could have avoided Moore, IMO.

I watched the game this morning and didn't think the was anything wrong with the try. I couldn't tell at the game but on tv I think it was pretty harsh not to give the try.
I also think saints had a try not given by video ref. The ball touched grass and should have been a try.

At the ground, even having watched the big screen, I couldn't believe we got the decision for the Hall no-try. Having watched the match on telly this morning, I can see more of an argument for disallowing it but we'll undoubtedly see tries of a similar nature being awarded so I can understand the upset coming from the Leeds fans.
I was surprised at the KC decision at the ground, and since watching the replay. There is an angle which seems to show quite clearly the ball touching the ground. While I accept the other angles suggested no try, surely on the basis that one angle did show a grounding, it should have merited a Benefit of Doubt decision at least?
On balance, the two calls evened each other out IMO.

| JJB quite clearly runs into Moore,if he'd done his job properly and run into the gap as your supposed to It would have been a try.
Right decision for me.

Him and McGuire were sulking and throwing tantrums all game!
How long was he taking with the drop-outs too? Something needs to be done. I know the clock is stopped, but he takes the p!ss with the amount of time he takes to take the drop-out.
