| On McGuire versus Pryce, it is clear from the other Leeds and Saints players being dropped from the England squad that Smith is not picking players who did not perform in the World Cup.
Pryce was disappointing by his own standards in Australia (in terms of defence, errors and lack of attacking impact), whilst McGuire rose to the occasion and looked like one of England's more dangerous players (albeit in a losing team, as has been pointed out).
Smith is simply sending a message to the players who did not perform, and also making a point to the pundits that he is prepared to look at different players unlike previous coaches.

I hate to agree with anyone from Yorkshire but he is right.
Yeaman is poop.
I don't know if its because he is not as good as we thought or he is lazy and unmotivated but in the end he just is not good enough for England.

He's played 14 out of 18 games this season scoring seven tries, which I believe is more than McGuire.
He is Wigans third top try scorer so he's not doing too bad for a "rookie"

For international level McGuires errors and missed tackle are a concern but he appears more creative than Pryce. Swings and roundabouts.'"
Really? On one less outing Pryce has more tries, more try assists, more offloads, more tackle busts, 1 less clean break, half as many missed tackles and errors.
The only area McGuire seems to be on top is the (albeit important) kicking game.
Pryce was poor in the World Cup, no doubt about it, and probably deserves to sit this one out more than most. But I really do struggle to be convinced that we have a better option - he is clearly one of GB's most talented players.
Good luck to McGuire though - whoever pulls on the shirt has my full support.

thats because he is more creative. what we need to do is have pryce and mcguire doing what they do best together.
pryce on the wing or at fullback? or maybe pryce coming of the bench

in sl he is for sure. i would love to see pryce in the nrl it would make him even better(its a shame we never will) i also think when putting international teams together pryce may struggle with some coaches due to the type of person he is. more and more in the modern game its far more than just how well you can run, kick, pass, and tackle. how you are as bloke counts just as much to coaches at club and international level.

Yeah great idea. Send our best players to the NRL and make their competition even better.
Nobody needs to test themselves in the NRL. Ellis was world class when he played for Leeds and he is World class now! Nothing as changed in his game.
The problem with our England team is lack of depth. Which shows when the likes of 'bog eyes' gets picked each time.

myler got a place for playing the likes of leigh and gateshead last year in national league, obviously that has payed off with performances for club and country. sam has really made an impression on super league and he deserves his chance to travel with the squad. to be honest i can see eastmond/clough/ainscough involved very soon.

| Pryce goes missing in Massive games.
McGuire performs in massive games hence the two trys he scored in 08 against you and the 2 winning trys in the CC Semi final off the bench at Huddersfield which you can find on bbc sport.
And his winner against Bradford in 04 where he came up against Pryce again.
Pryce was MISSING for the World cup again and was ragged off the pitch at half time by Smith.

One that knows that there's been more than one semi at Huddersfield.
I'm also wondering why, if there's so much difference betwween the two players, why people are being forced to go back 6 years to justify their stance.
If games 6 years ago were any real indication of the current situation then Long should be a shoe in for scrum half.

I'd put that down more to Sinfields tactical kicking though.

Where was Pryce?
Not effective at all.
Was it down to Sinfields kicking in 07 aswell?
