| What about pryce to the centres, wilkin to stand off, siola (whatever his name is) to second row, just a thought, I just think that pryce did not take any pressure of eastmond (last night) and maybe wilkin would. only a thought.

Bollox, frankly.
He was poor last night, yes. He even did a Meli (I only saw that on the replay back home). But generally speaking, in fact almost always, he is a sound last line of defence. It's his pace which has become a problem due to the fact that fullbacks are now expected to have some!

I dont know mate you see him more than I do, from what I've seen I just think he does not like the resposibility, Wilkin seems to thrive on it which would take a bit of pressure of Eastmound. This kid is class but needs to to managed properly and not thrown in the deep end and expected to marshall a team around the pitch at such a young age.

If you moved Pryce to left centre you could solve three problems in one go:
1. You'd have a strike centre with some pace
2. You'd have a stand off who can kick a ball in Wheeler
3. You'd be able to introduce a bit of grunt into the back row with Soliola.

Agree entirely - I've been saying Pryce could be the best centre in SL for ages.

I've seem nothing from pryce in 2 years to suggest he could be the best at owt appart from standing out the back of the ruck looking disinterested

| Most of what everyone is saying makes perfect sense to me.
The frustrating thing is, we probably wont see any radical changes, or players dropped for underperforming.
I cant believe how frustrated I am after 1 game.
Wilkin / Eastmond would be a great half back partnership imo
Be good to see a youngster keep Gardner out the team too
8. Graham 9. Cunnungham 10. Paletua with Cunningham taking on the line a lot more would be the most effective.
Roby needs to be on the pitch as much as possible.
LF seems the most obvious so he can get involved as much as possible
Id love to see (but will never happen)

| I must say I'm not too thrilled with [url=http://www.saintsrlfc.com/news/2286Potter's appraisal of the game[/url.
There seems to be no recognition of just how inferior we were in that match.

Who is he trying to kid? "We made some good breaks." I know it was foggy Brian, and we struggled to see most of the game, but don't extract the urine.
I'm off to photoshop his face onto a picture of Comical Ali.

| Pryce has always been a far better centre than a stand off. This was the case at the Bulls too. The problem is that he doesn't see it the same way and never has.

Hence the word "could" in my post.
I'm not saying he's better than Senior, just saying he [icould[/i be given an extended run at centre. At his best he's just as devastating as Keef - just a shame he doesn't seem to have the attitude/bottle Senior has.
p.s. I'm not so sure about Senior being faster than Pryce and as for size - according to the Saints/Leeds sites they are the same height, with only 2kg in it as far as weight goes.

Early on we made numerous breaks, and didn't finish them off. A few years ago when we made a break, there would 4 or 5 players bursting through to support, now we are lucky to have 1 support player.
From various things i've read that Potter has said, he doesn't seem to bothered at all, it was the same last season whenever we lost.

He does seem a little ostrich like, the game at bradford will be very important, 2 underperforming teams, Joint favourites for first coach of the season to be sacked meet up in possibly the worst game of superleague boredom ever.

| Give the team time to get into rythmn and see what we can do then. We all should know that it takes more than three or four games for teams to start gelling. IIRC Hull started on fire last year and won something like five out of their first seven and then they folded. Like any of the big teams we should be battling it out at the end of the year and will be barring serious injuries to key players.

I dont think people are baseing their thoughts on this game alone.
Unfortunatly It was the sterile attack that we have become accustomed to.

Problem is though, Potter could be the greatest coach in the world and he still wouldn't be able to coach the backs to be a yard faster.
In my opinion the test of Potter as a coach will be how he manages the young players through the season. If by the end of the year the likes of Wheeler and Lomax are bedded in and looking the part as genuine first choice players and Eastmond has found his feet in his role as the team's organiser - he will have done his job well and we'll be a quicker, more dangerous and more attractive team as a result.
Another 4-6 weeks of Eastmond playing at 7 each week and we'll be a different proposition near the line, I've no doubt.

He has practically the same backline as what Daniel Anderson had in his last season bar Talau, where we finished as top scorers in the league. Our attack is really blunt, because tactically we're playing a one out forwards game. We have one move when we spread it wide - round the back to Pryce, round the back to Wellens. It hasn't worked for ages and certainly not at the slow speed we play it at. Whenever we do spread it wide apart from that it is aimlessly and with little thought and no runners. It says it all when our best move is when Graham runs the ball in and feeds the nearest man to hit a hole. We just don't seem to have any set moves and rely solely on the forwards making yards and hope we can barge over near the line. We just don't look like scoring points, we look completely disorganised, like we did last season and that is a huge concern. It was first noticeable to me in the Huddersfield semi last year where for a Semi Final we looked clueless and siorganised, when we should've been peaking. That form has carried on since. The backline maybe slow, but we don't give them enough ball anyway and when we do, it's got there so slowly, they have no chance.
Potter needs to get the players on the training ground and work on some new moves, otherwise we'll struggle to score points all season.
