I disagree. I thought Wilkin was awful all night. He got killed down the middle and on the edge.
Complete lack of any pace. Looked like he was on 40 fans a day.

| Right ... Positives first ...
Savelios best game for us period
Makinson pulled off more than a few try savers
Minus the kickoff I thought Fleming had a good debut - he should remain at least until Wellens is fit,
Walsh looked great
Negatives
Jones, Wilkin Flanagans and Mose's first half performance were nothing short of atrocious, LMS's and burns not far behind
Our game plan is basically dependent on having 2 100kg+ players running wide to create gaps and doubt in defences - until Walsh we looked like creating nothing
We seem to be playing 2 locks and one second row which makes our outside backs look poor in defence as they're constantly left with overlaps
Our defense was at 6s and 7s from minute 1
Despite everything, they're were 2 - 3 opportunities to get back into the game and really put ourselves back into the game and we blew every single one
We must be the most intercepted team I the league - we are literally handing our opponents 6-12 points a game
I'm not really sure where we go from here ...

Very harsh on his second half performance. He was our most threatening runner once he went into the back row. He was bloody awful defensively in the first half though.

I thought what tonight showed was that we're a Saints team who have forgotten how to play attacking, passing rugby. Our injuries to key backs have meant that for 12 months now we've had to rely on grinding up the field, and getting over the line from within the opposition twenty after repeat sets. We simply didn't know what to do today with attacking chances. There were no drop-off runners for the props' offloads, so they ended up throwing it to the grounds ten yards back rather than in the hands, and if it did go to hand, everyone stood around staring because they weren't expecting a second phase. Likewise it was painful to watch Walsh creating gaps and uncertainty in the Leeds line, but us having nobody running the correct lines to hit the holes he was making, because we just haven't done that for so long.
Oh, and we really, really need Percy back, plus one other proper athletic, fast winger or fullback. Our lack of speed in the backs is cringeworthy.'"
Absolutely spot on.
We used to play with flair like that.
It was like being beaten by Saints of yesteryear.
We over hype ,over pay and over indulge in sentimentality.
Leeds in contrast attract and develop flair physicality and most importantly pace.
They have a balanced squad.
If you took our best(only) two wingers out like they had even with all our other players back,
the contrast is stark.

| You cannot expect to beat teams of the calibre of Leeds when carrying players of the like of Flanagan, Jones and Swift.
Flanagan is rubbish, Jones is rubbish and not interested. Swift is !!! well, total rubbish.

You missed Tuner in the negatives in the first half. His defence is nothing short of dreadful. It was on par with Sarginson in last nights game for poor defence.
I don't tbink leeds was that many points better than us the first half. They grabbed a few long distance scores but Our edge defence was utter shocking. Both centres in the first half was awful and wilkin couidnt tackle a 10 year old.
We was much better 2nd half with the ball but yet again as soon as leeds get the ball they score.
Sav was awesome the 2nd half and showed he can do it if he applies himself. We miss lomax something chronic, he gives us threat on the edges when he links up on the edge. Tommy can't do this and looks like a winger out of position at fullback. His defence is good but HES dead wirh the ball.
We lack a prop big time. We can't keeping relying on walmsley. Amor is struggling for form at moment and mose is a complete waste of space.
I think we will be ok when percy gets back and walsh and Burns stay fit but our defence worries me big time!

By the time percy is back Roby and walmsley will be burnt out.
The only injury risk to Mose is getting splinters in his while on the bench between his hitchcock like cameos.

| Good god! Hold your nerve.
Let us refresh this conversation with a little realism. We are currently in the middle of an atrocious injury run. We are missing countless quality players whilst several of our starters are clearly playing crocked (see Roby). This is the first real chance our halves have had the opportunity to play with each other in a Saints shirt.
So far we've done brilliantly. Yes - we've lost a few games recently. But once the likes of Vea, Percy, Greenwood et al return and Burns and Walsh have had the opportunity to re-develop their prior relationship I don't think we'll have any problems at all.
It's easy to look at Leeds' play tonight and consider that we are somehow "deficient" in certain departments. That Leeds are clearly better at attacking play etc. etc.
All I'll say is this: if Jamie Peacock were crocked tomorrow they'd suddenly hit a brick wall at a high rate of knots.
As previously stated - Leeds are entirely welcome to a dozen point lead come the end of the season. The advantages gained from such are practically non-existent provided we finish 2nd or even 3rd.
And how many times have we seen sides wowing the competition at the mid-way point delivering strangely muted performances at the end of the year?
We've now got a few relatively easy games to get ourselves back on the horse. Three wins and no major injuries and job done for this part of the competition. IMO, other sides have far bigger problems to solve than us.

Whatever makes you feel better pal...
Leeds were missing Hall and Briscoe, two of the most physical and attacking wingers in the competition, as well as England starters. Add to that recent international Jamie Jones-Buchanan and hugely influential prop forward Kylie Leuluei and I would suggest Leeds have just shown you the power of their squad tonight. It is a squad game and if Saints can't manage that, then results like tonight will happen again.

We only had 3 players out this week. Leeds had a few players missing and also had players playing with injuries and they basically showed us up to be average.
A very very poor hull team came to langtree on Easter Monday who also had injuries and beat us on our own turf.
Add the hull KR game also, they had half their pack out and beat us.
Injuries can be a excuse but those games mentioned above we should have won but didn't play to our ability. The defence on edges is as poor as ive seen from a pro team.
However, if we get Burns and walsh firing and percy back in the centre we will be ok and should make top 4 but we need one hell of improvent and fast!
