I would let Wheeler go ahead of Gaskell especially seeing as pretty much every club in the country is struggling to bring through their own half backs. I mean, Wire had to go out and buy two, Pies bought Smith and one wonders what's going to happen at Leeds to replace their's.

A saints player has 100% put in a transfer request. I know this as FACT as he told me himself.

I was told by a very reliable source that Eamonn won't sell any player to Wigan - and was pointed out the Mick Higham saga where he signed for Bradford for them to swap with Newton to get him to Wigan - so dont think we would sell Gaskell directly to Wigan as I trust what I was told.

That was all to do with the Ian Millward saga. Wigan is now owned by a mate of Eamonn's, so I don't think this will be a factor.

Just a point on the centre we could be looking at - could it be Keith Lulia? If Bradford do end up losing their franchise he may well be given exemption status and is a pretty decent centre.

Wigan are in for Blake Green so hopefully all this stuff about Gaskell going there will soon be at an end.

We couldn't possibly have thought we had him without knowing that Widnes are entitled to some deveopment compensation. We might have been playing the waiting game until the end of the season before paying and been caught out, but we could never have realistically signed him without paying something.

Maybe we tried to offer a player on loan for a season and it didn't happen for one reason or another.
