| Quote ="Sadfish"This is what the original plans showed though.
Saints haven't hidden anything just that it wasn't obvious to us all as we say the 3d graphics and it showed it enclosed but the plans didn't have cladding.
The thing is, it WILL be required as the concourses are treacherous in the wetter periods, but you could say that vast areas of KR were in the same "boat".
Either way Eamonn only really needs to stop the rain coming in for it to stop the complaints I think the stadium looks fine from where I sit in the south stand, and probably looks better in the North.'"
Didn't Saints commission and were therefore responsible for the 3d graphics? They were certainly using them to publicise the ground, and sell tickets. Most fans will not look at the technical plans, so it is not unfair to say that things were hidden.
I haven't been to the ground yet, but from TV, it looks lovely, I don't think there are any issues with the look of it from inside, outside is a different matter, and if there are health and safety issues with the concourse then there's a problem. As you say, there are plenty of grounds with uncovered spaces, do they have a different ground surface to avoid slips etc. as I've never known issues with slipping in these older grounds.

The 3D graphics were promoted as the thing to see, and loads of people - including me - went to watch the presentation which included them. I watched it in the town centre. The club has misled people in this regard as the 3D graphics clearly showed an enclosed stadium and that really excited a lot of people, thinking that we could capture a serious atmosphere. Having the open sides has not only been a disappointment but they have also created an unpleasant experience at the stadium when the weather isn't warm and sunny.

My comment was about his ability to control the weather as that would probably be the only thing you will see any time soon with regards to stopping the rain in those expanded areas of the North east and west stands.
I think people who think they where misled are mad, thats what plans are for, the representation was wrong, but are we the fools for that or Saints for not making the "halo" effect more obvious, the plans are there for all to see when all said and done.
I think the club are wrong to delay/not make a decision/not liaise with the fans over the cladding issue, and if i see Eamonn i'll tell him such, last time I spoke to him the answer was that it was going to happen after the reports of the roof issue where sorted.
I would love the cladding to get finished and all round too, but not at the over expense of the clubs finances spiralling..... We don't want to be the next Bradford, and really cladding is low on the overall agenda on the grand scheme of things......

The concrete mix used on the concourses are for inside use and not for outside. The fact it's supposed to be a inside mix means to much water could make it crack or scuff up in places.
The reason it's so slippy when wet is because it's been power floated meaning its a very smooth finish which usually is used on house slabs, units etc

From his working background to controlling the game of rugby league! No! he simply do not have the right experience, this was shown when he decided to go to the media asking to reduce Super League to 12 clubs rather attend Super League meetings and raise the point, that shows some real experience! Perhaps if we go with 12 teams which I feel will be a major mistake, then will he go for a fair method to All Super League Clubs 14 balls with each teams name on and the two pulled out Go? I see some players back this as well will they take reduce wages? No! I seriously doubt it.

Superleague should be 10 teams, not 12 and certainly not 14. Only fans of terribly badly run clubs want anything else

| SL would benfit for being a 10 team league and casting off the likes of Widnes, Wakefield, London. However, I'm not sure the game as a whole would. certainly without a London team. Although, having a team in London has achieved nothing to date.

I like the idea of a team in london, but forcing them to compete with other SL teams and so spend more money than they can afford and live in bigger stadia then they need is killing them. London Broncos and London Scolars in the same league would do far much more for the game in London

Obviously there's a couple thousand cockneys go to the games. But I have friends from London who live here and friends from here who live in London and they all say people don't even know Rugby League exists. They know of 'rugby' which is union but don't have a clue there's a second code. Some of my friends from London who lve up here are from a Union background and knew of SL and vaguely of London Broncos but only because they played Union. There is little to no coverage of the Broncos in the capital and the general public wouldn't have a clue who they were. Their average attendances are absolutely diabolical and it must be a money pit as you cant keep a club financially stable of 2,500 gate receipts. Somebody somewhere is losing a lot of money.

For too long (100 n' odd years) Rugby League has been a professional game run by amateurs i.e. retired players. It's about time it was run as a business by professional managers who understand investment and finance.
You do have a good point about going public with the debate rather than expressing those views in the correct forum. However, we don't know the full story and maybe he's gone public in frustration.
As for cutting the number of teams... I think you missunderstand the proposal. It would bring more money to each team left in; a bigger share out of the available SKY money and getting rid of two teams with poor support would ensure that.
With the number of teams losing money it is obvious that the present set up is only sustainable with a few 'sugar daddies' helping individual clubs.

If that is the case and Fact please explain why such a big percentage of the tickets sold for the last international match at Wembley were sold to London postal addresses? You can never make a judgement
on what friends think alone.
The problem we have currently in London with the Broncos is that this season we have spent to our allowed salary limit on players, but fortunately the coach and some of the players have not really come up with the goods. The re-launch this season because of the on the field performances has not been successful. I supported the return to The Stoop but as with everyone else we have proved to be wrong, our Landlords have not supported us in the way I anticipated, t was also quite clear the use of the Harlequins name damaged us as a club, while at the same time we pay a very high rental for the use of the ground just for Super League and Challenge Cup match days. My only resolution for the current problem is to re-locate and I would like it to be to East of the Capital were great strides are being made with support of major sponsorship and the London Mayor's office, we need own own stadium were we can build in the local community, something I think will never happen with the Twickenham area, it may be we will have to ground share with a football club, I must point out this is not the feeling of some vocal supporters who seem to see The Stoop and Twickenham as heaven? why, when there is such bad transport connections, that is something we need to have, you have to remember many of our supporters travel a longer distance than any Northern club supporters do to 50% of their away matches.
It is important and at the same time that the fast development of the game in London at youth and amateur level now outshines many of the heartlands of the North and not by small numbers, we have to capture on this.
We have a Chairman who has backed the club financially a lot more personally than nearly every Super
League Club chairman that is his commitment to the game of Super League.
If we drop London now from Super League it will be disappointing and will close the door forever! and at a time when in recent games we have been playing more London born players than many Northern clubs do with their home town players.
Still think it will be a major mistake to lower the number of teams in Super League if anything it should have been 16 teams!

Very true, don't get me wrong I'm not knocking London Broncos (I know it may seem that way), I'm a big supporter of having a London based team, we don't want the sport to stagnate as a minority sport in the North.
Most of my London friends who now live in the North moved here in the past 2 years, and the general feeling towards RL in the south may very well be outdated. I do honestly hope that London Broncos turn into a success, it just hasn't happened yet.

That kind of set up doesn't apparently help Cumbria, which apparently always needs a SL team, despite being a 'heartland' area. Why would it do more for London which isn't, and as a consequence would lose almost all media coverage?

No "might" about it - if the likes of Saracens, London Irish, Wasps etc. (all much bigger, better financed and better supported clubs than this year's version of London) can't afford a stadium of their own in the London area then it's hard to imagine where your lot could ever find the money (or planning permission) from... It's always been a bit of an embarrassment seeing a SL club "caged" up like a freakshow exhibit at the heart of British RU for the rah-rahs to point and laugh at so it'd be nice to see you elsewhere (like in the National Leagues for instance )
