Great news for us.

I like the look of Mossop, from what i've seen of him, he looks like a very good prospect, a big lad too. Shame he plays for your lot really.

It's amazing how quickly a club moves to give their players a new contract when there's a rumour.

Seriously long deals for both Sam and Mossop show that Lenegan is moving us in the right direction.

What happens if they turn out to be turd? It would be better to let them go to Widnes for a season or two first IMO.

With those two it's a chance I'm willing to take, and it saves the @rsing about like you will have with Eastmond again this year.

Yes but he only got a one year extension and all the speculation was around rugby union calling, and that could happen again this year. If you'd have given him a four or five year deal it would have made it much harder (more expensive) for someone to poach him.

Who knows? If the club wanted it then I think that was a sensible decision. He was pretty inexperienced in reality to be taking on such a pivotal role in the team and prior to this season we hadn't seen whether he could organise the team. He is still very much a novice in terms of the no.7 shirt and no doubt Pryce, Wello, Cunningham et al are all supporting him while he learns his trade. Should he really come on during this season and into the next then negotiations will be much tougher I should imagine and will likely lead to an offer of serious contract time by Saints.

Only snag with that is that he will then command much more money, but only time will tell

Of course he will. But that would be the case whenever his contract was up for renewal. We could hardly sign him for life could we? Besides, if he continues developing at the rate he is doing presently then he will be worth much more money. I don't begrudge a talented rugby league player good money.

Maybe we didn't have the room under the cap this year, so we offerd him a one year deal with the view of giving him a higher wage and longer contract at the end of this year as the is good few off contract freeing up cap space.

They gave him a modest extension until 2011 in order to give him a full season at 7 without other clubs apporaching him towards the end. Assuming his season continues as it has, I expect a fresh, long term deal to beon the table at the end of this season.

It was played well by the club, imo. Eastmond, although an exciting prospect, was unproven at 7, where we needed him - throwing a lucrative long term contract at him then would have been folly.

He was on a destroying mission on Sunday at the Galpharm stadium. Sensational game indeed from the bloke, TP also was on fire and with those two firing at you it takes some stopping.
