I think it was you who took a picture of a small hole in the roof just after it had been completed. I wonder if this was the same place? It's very probable that the roofers did a poor job, not securing the sections properly. I would imagine now there is going to have to be a wholesale inspection of the roof before anybody will be allowed in there. I wonder if the responsibility for repairs is Langtree's, as the developers who subcontracted the work, or Saints?

What the pictures dont show is how far back the hole as gone, the wind has just peeled back about 5 strips of the roofing up to the main roof supports, as luck would have it the damage is over the concourse not the main stand with all the kitchen's ect underneath.
Could be that health and safety may get involved, that wouldn't be good.

| =#FF0000Right folks, this thread is for pictures and comments on those pictures ONLY. If you want to debate the many other things regarding the stadium whether that be who built it, who paid for it, the breeds of pigeon sh*tting all over the black cladding or how you can't walk there from the town centre because of your corns and piles, then please do so on another thread, its quite easy to set a new one up - you just use the 'new topic' button on the main page.

I went up to the stadium today and there were blokes doing a lot of work on the roof where the bits came off. The area they were working on was quite large. Hopefully the repairs have ensured the thing is truly secure this time!

| Off work today, so went to get some piccies
Its pretty impossible not to know what the stadium is called these days. It is plastered with Langtree park everywhere.
The main one at the Kings Corner is readable from the Burger King on the retail park opposite the Tesco's
The St.Helens RFC shield has also appeared around the stadium. It is IMO a very good club logo and adds a further touch of class to the stadium
An absolutely massive club shield adorns the North stand. However it looks as if its a vinyl transfer rather than a three dimensional plastic logo as on the South stand shields.
yet another Langtree park sign, this one being near the scoreboard
I also managed to get some pics of work going on around the stadium.
This first picture shows the cafe bar being fitted out
The club shop and museum is also coming along nicely. you can clearly see the counter in the first pic.
The shuttered areas are were the display cases will be for the museum exhibits, showing off the clubs fabulous heritage.
Nice to see the club not forgetting its past.
The double doors on the left of this pic, lead directly into the cafe bar, so you will be able to buy merchandise then get a pint without going outside.
Some Pie Eaters who were unloading chiller cabinets in the East stand, let me take this photo of the East stand concourse. They thought the stadium looked fantastic, but were worried that some fans may throw bottles and rubbish from the back of the terrace onto the councourses below. This is something that has also crossed my mind in the past as well. Hopefully fans will behave themselves otherwise Saints will need to fit safety netting.
The damaged roof section has also been repaired
I have also noticed the council highways department have fitted permanent LED information boards on the link roads around the town centre. Previously there were temporary ones put up for the bridge work, but it looks like these permanent signs have been fitted as part of traffic management measures on match nights.
New sign posts have also been fitted. This one showing St.Helens tourist attractions caught my eye.
end of part1 , part 2 features bridge piccies

At long bloody last, the Council have given the Theatre Royal a sign. They've been begging for one for years. Also at long last more than just the glass museum has been identified as worthy of a visit. I hope the exact contents of this sign are replicated at all the other main routes into town AND that one is placed on the motorways.

| Lots of piccies of the bridge which now has its ribs in place
This is the view from Burger King
and from Tesco's
from the stadiums North stand car park
looking more closely at the bridge
a lamp post has already been fitted at the top of the ramp close to Tesco's
The bridge in all its glory.
a closer look shows it is no longer being supported and can now truely be called a bridge
looking towards Tesco's from St.Helens town centre side
light fittings going in close to the St.Helens Chamber building on THE SAINTS WAY
finally, look closely at the footpath towards the Kings corner near Tesco's and you can see these holes were lights have yet to be fitted.

| I hope they put lights on the actual bridge itself highlighting the struts. There's one in Manchester of similar design with lights and it looks classy. Near Albert's Shed and Twisted Med restaurants for those who know.

If you look closely at the ends of the ribs you can see small lights on them. On the underside of the walkway on the seventh picture down you can also see the front and back of two lights. These are located dead centre of the bridge.

I like the idea of the bridge being lit up. It's a fine bridge and I'm really looking forward to crossing it on 9 December!

| Some shuttering needs to be done yet around the base of the bridge, and some fancy handrails yet to be fitted on the bridge, the handrails are coming from Portugal.

The Halo is simply the shape of the stadium (tenuous, I know).
The cladding issue will be sorted, if not for the first game then certainly within the early part of the season.

Reading that you can see why clubs are looking at how Widnes get on with their plastic pitch.
The fact the club have gone to the expense of fitting a top line pitch would make me think they would be prepared to fork out for the necessary maintenance.
£25k a year sounds a lot. However if a well kept pitch reduces player injuries and results in better rugby that attracts fans then the revenue will be clawed back that way.
It does show however that new stadiums can be just as much a money pit as old grounds.

| I would question the conclusion that the club has not incorporated maintenance costs into their thinking, as the writer does`nt know if it was , as none of us know either however £25,000 is considerably less than the £500,000 a year it took to keep KR from falling down and up to H&S spec
