This was the last photo I saw by chairmaker (Thanks) on 19 November and one end seems to be open as shown road side near the Langtree Park entrance and the wall with name and logo on.

Planning was only passed the other week for this end to be finished, will be ongoing into the start of the season most likely, but it will be done.

Yes I understood extra planning permission had been sought Sadfish, but was that just for the extension at the top which was intended to be open for air to flow through?

No. Apparently the type of cladding around the to be fitted around remainder of the stadium is going to be of a perforated kind, allowing a breeze through (so taking away wind resistence pressure) but not the rain. Some of it will reach the roof while at other places it won't. There is a plan of the proposed cladding somewhere, perhaps earlier on in this thread. The plans were passed but with conditions which probably means the stadium won't be finished by the start of the new season, alas. But ultimately it isn't going to be open as it is at present.

talking to someone who should know, he said things were delaying the start of the cladding fitting, at this stage it can only be the conditions attached, he said it was touch and go wether it will be ready for the first game. wether he meant first league game of friendly, dont know.

We are doing the cladding ourselves.


So expect to see KC, joey Hayes and tommy Martyn on ladders at Langtree park with hammers and nails in the near future.

I went up to the Stadium today and took a few pictures , not a lot new to see

we also dont have license plates in the UK. We have number plates or vehicle registration plates to be more precise.

A license plate is a licence on a car that says the car is licensed to be driven on the road over a specific period.
In effect its a combined car tax and number plate.

True but people seem to get things wrong sll the time these days grammar and spelling arent great, also I thought myself how early they are putting the sign up , after all we dont play a game until Jan

The first game may be January but the open day is less that two weeks away.

They may be concerned about Saints fans deciding to park on Tesco for the open day.

The sad thing is though that I have yet to see the Tesco car park get full. I was in town on Saturday and considering its the run up to Christmas the car
park was half empty.

I also wonder what time limit Tesco put on parking. If its two hours then last minute larrys can turn up at 19:50 and be off the car park before their time runs out.

According to a post on Redvee the roof has a big hole in it.

I suppose its better that we find that major defect now than once the season has kicked off.

Otherwise we could have a scenario with a game being abandoned which would be very embarrassing.

Nipped to town to get pics of the roofers dodgy workmanship.

Its not a pretty site seeing our wonderful stadium already being torn apart. Now i appreciate it was windy last night, however it does make me wonder what could happen to the stadium if a real storm hit St.Helens.

Only saving grace is its better identifying this major snag now, than on a match day when people could have been injured or killed. Especially those in the West stand.





Was round town yesterday and took a few pics similar to Gruntfuttock.

not much to report on the bridge other than they have tarmaced the path to it and fit an electrical box presumably for the bridge lighting





i also noticed that in the walk back into town, lamposts have been fitted. Though they are still awaiting the light fittings.



Maybe this could provide alternative transport to the ground, for those moaning about the 10 minute walk from the car parks

says on the sign's that the link road to fingerpost will close 5am tomorrow, must be fitting the hangers back on the bridge.

I think it was you who took a picture of a small hole in the roof just after it had been completed. I wonder if this was the same place? It's very probable that the roofers did a poor job, not securing the sections properly. I would imagine now there is going to have to be a wholesale inspection of the roof before anybody will be allowed in there. I wonder if the responsibility for repairs is Langtree's, as the developers who subcontracted the work, or Saints?

What the pictures dont show is how far back the hole as gone, the wind has just peeled back about 5 strips of the roofing up to the main roof supports, as luck would have it the damage is over the concourse not the main stand with all the kitchen's ect underneath.
Could be that health and safety may get involved, that wouldn't be good.

And we thought our maintenance/ H&S nightmares would be over in the new stadium!

AHHH! i see where my ban stick got to. uncle tony has taken up that battan and beat he required people around the head with it!

I went up to the stadium today and there were blokes doing a lot of work on the roof where the bits came off. The area they were working on was quite large. Hopefully the repairs have ensured the thing is truly secure this time!

Fingers crossed! as more winds are forecast Friday and perhaps the weekend.

Its pretty impossible not to know what the stadium is called these days. It is plastered with Langtree park everywhere.

The main one at the Kings Corner is readable from the Burger King on the retail park opposite the Tesco's





The St.Helens RFC shield has also appeared around the stadium. It is IMO a very good club logo and adds a further touch of class to the stadium





An absolutely massive club shield adorns the North stand. However it looks as if its a vinyl transfer rather than a three dimensional plastic logo as on the South stand shields.

I also managed to get some pics of work going on around the stadium.

This first picture shows the cafe bar being fitted out



The club shop and museum is also coming along nicely. you can clearly see the counter in the first pic.

The shuttered areas are were the display cases will be for the museum exhibits, showing off the clubs fabulous heritage.
Nice to see the club not forgetting its past.



The double doors on the left of this pic, lead directly into the cafe bar, so you will be able to buy merchandise then get a pint without going outside.



Some Pie Eaters who were unloading chiller cabinets in the East stand, let me take this photo of the East stand concourse. They thought the stadium looked fantastic, but were worried that some fans may throw bottles and rubbish from the back of the terrace onto the councourses below. This is something that has also crossed my mind in the past as well. Hopefully fans will behave themselves otherwise Saints will need to fit safety netting.



The damaged roof section has also been repaired



I have also noticed the council highways department have fitted permanent LED information boards on the link roads around the town centre. Previously there were temporary ones put up for the bridge work, but it looks like these permanent signs have been fitted as part of traffic management measures on match nights.

New sign posts have also been fitted. This one showing St.Helens tourist attractions caught my eye.
