| apart from that second try we scored there isn't one move in this team
barge...barge...barge...and the lack of speed is concerning.
forget this season and see what brown and the new signings bring next year.

| Warrington were much the better side throughout the 80 minutes, a 10 point defeat flattered us.
The only worry if I was a Wire fan is why they didn't rack up a cricket score against such an inept Saints performance.

I know why we lost - we're utterly one-dimensional and predictable with no functioning halves, an inexperienced mistake-prone 3/4 line and no kicking game at all. Match our forwards with a good backline as happened tonight and we're completely buggered. We [ican[/i still win the big games given the basic quality of our pack, and could [imaybe[/i still have done so tonight without the gifts from our backs, but we need the forwards to all be on top form and for the backs to stay solid in defence to be able to do so. It may just be a case of putting this season behind us and seeing what Brown can do next year at this point, but we're still in with a shout.

Oh, I don't know... It was pretty damn shocking. I was worried when I realised that Soliola wasn't named in the team as I knew we'd miss his aggression. That was true but he wouldn't have changed much! Horrible performance. BOTH wingers having a nightmare... That doesn't come along very often and you're pretty much stuffed if it does. Took a Widnes fan to the game and even he noticed that we have a half back afraid to pass! He only half jokingly suggested that they wouldn't even take Lance Hohaia at Widnes!

| I'm not sure we managed to successfully defend and turn over a full set on our line. Either Wire scored, had a try disallowed or made an error. I could be wrong but I don't remember a set being fully played out and turned over when Wire were attacking. Very alarming that our goal line defence was so bad.

We depend on pens in big games as we've got no brains in the team, we will just do one up rugby all night and if that doesn't work we just carry on playing one man rugby or do the odd poor kick.
I'm not just saying this but I've not seen a worse kicking than the one we've had this year, it's been totally shocking.

we had no pens till about the 30 minute mark.

On the 64 minute point when Riley scored to make it 22 - 6, our team 'eased' off and started to save their bodies for the Wigan game on Saturday, that was plain to see. I didn't want them to do that because I wanted more tries scored. If after the Riley try was scored TS had sent out the message 'go get them' we would have probably won by 20 points or more.

| What a dreadful performance. Forwards got battered. No imagination. Just a series of predictable one up drives that warrington coped with ease.
We have been on a good run, albeit with a bit of good fortune thrown in (widnes and catalan spring to mind), but we looked a class apart from Warrington last night.

Well at least three of those penalties were for high tackles. Either way a 5 - 1 penalty count in Saints favor shows indiscipline from Wire. Unfortunately Saints lacked the quality to do anything with extra ball and field position gained.
The amount of possession Wire had in contrast to Saints is irrelevant when it's comes to giving away penalties. Just because Wire had more possession doesn't mean they had to give away more penalties. Quite the opposite. Saints were chasing the game, struggling to make any great inroads into the Wire defense. It should have been Saints who gave away the the penalties through frustration and fatigue. Wire were in complete and utter control until roughly the 25 minute when indiscipline crept in.

Absolutely this, and a couple of the dubious calls disallowing try's would have given the scoreline a more realistic margin.
I recall Briers kicking to the corner with 15 to go lilke he was running down a
'2 minute clock'. Obviously the team or TS had decided enough was enough save some for Saturday tea time

He's right in that case though. I'm sure the vast majority of people would have Westwood over Wilkin and Hill over Clough. The only one worth a debate is Carvell and Perry, on recent form it's Perry for me.

As a complete set of 10 I'd take our first choice lineup over anybody else's at the moment when they turn up to play, and one-eyed clueless Wire fans drunk on success arguing over a couple of the players out of that 10 doesn't change that one iota.

More banter? From what I can gather, with your quote re Saints having the best pack in SL, most other Saints fans think you're even more one-eyed and clueless than we are.

Yes, 10 as in 6 on the park and 4 subs in the modern game. I'd have Westwood and Carvell over Flannery and Clough in a heartbeat, who wouldn't, but that wasn't the point being made. As a complete set of 10 I think I'd marginally take Saints' over Warrington's. The comparison is a bit less equal in the backs though

With regards to "inanity", what is the point of having a my pack's better than your pack 'debate'?
To then questioning someone from an opposing view is beyond inanity it borders insanity, as we would surely back the majority of our own players especially from two top teams. The same could be said of a bit of banter with Wigan, but I'm not sure if you would have the same discussion on the Widnes board for example?
