The new Wire?

When did Wire last win the league? Or reach the GF? Or even finish above us?

Wire have a LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG way to go before they can be compared with St Helens.

Well, they can be compared to us but never favourably. Their fans are still showing due appreciation of us by starting rumours about taking our players. It's Jon Wilkin now who is apparently signing for the Mighty Wire! He's going to join James Graham and Tony Puletua in the ranks of new Wolves apparently.

Jon Wilkin's already bought a house and business in Warrington. Maybe he's been planning the move for a while?

Maybe he just wants to live in a good part of the country like Saddened.

Actually having been looking at the threads on this forum it seems very familiar to the Wire board, the same pie-eaters crop up trolling the threads on here that we get on ours.

Wilkin has a testemonial next year. Unless Saints say they don't want him he's hardly likely to walk out is he?

As for whether we're the new Wire, no. We simply have to accept that it's not possible to keep up the level of excellence we have done for the last 15 years. Our time will come again

With all due respect "bobbing under the top teams and then making some decent runs in the playoff's" is what Saints have been doing for the past 4 years.

2007 - 1st
2008 - 1st
2009 - 2nd
2010 - 2nd

In 2 of those 4 years we finished top and in the other 2 we finished second? How is that "bobbing under the top teams?"

And I wouldn't call making the GF in four consecutive years a "decent run in the play-offs". I'd call it qualifying for the biggest game of the year four years on the spin.

Yes you qualified for the game which is a lot more than other teams which could be mentioned.

We've finished in the top 2 for the last six seasons and been to the Grand Final for five years on the spin.

Some people are getting way ahead of themselves, forgetting the facts. We set the standard in Superleague. Everyone else is simply catching up (except Bradford, who are sliding further and further away ...).

No question, but that is still much better than Wire who are Super League's "never get close and sometimes miss the play-offs entirely" men.

Warrington are lightyears behind Saints and an eternity away from being anywhere near Wigan in terms of there past, trophies, size of club, the lot.

Worried? No. We are a club developing the best youngsters in Super League, current champions and our U21's are unbeaten (IIRC), a glorious past, a champion present and an exciting future. My posts refer to Warrington because erm, Im on the Saints board, and they play Warrington tonight, its a bit hard to avoid A "Warrington" based thread isn't it.

Not suggesting you ain't got a clue but there hasn't been an u21s competition for yonks.

For your information in the u20s (which I guess you are attempting to refer to) Wigan are not unbeaten - go on have a guess which team beat them at Wigan earlier this season; a clue is that its the same team that beat Wigan twice at u20s last season and also provided the Man of the Match's for all England u18s last season as well as the player of the series for them against the Aussies schoolboys last year.

That is a very generous comparison of Warrington. I'd be more tempted to use Tottenham as a comparsion. Although I'll probably be eating my words tonight.

I'm more worried as the match gets closer. Lets hope it's not an embarrasement.
