Thats a fair post rogues which is rare for you
Your goal line defence was awesome to hold the likes of tony p and roby up a good few times. The wasn't much in the game but to be camped on your line for best part of 30 mins and not put more points on board is pretty poor by saints.

yeh, i thought that at the time. Gardner (I think) had Deirdre Barlow covered, Eastmond was tracking the offload.

Tis true that they go in the pool usually the morning after at Total Fitness and they get to break all the rules that the rest of us have to obey such as wearing swim caps in the pool. Not all of them but quite a few,

Have you actually read this thread? Nobody is making excuses, Jonh commented that the conditioning of the players looked poor, and people replied with some of the reasons as to why the players may have looked fatigued. The fact is, nobody knows why this was the case except the players and the coaching staff.

| Whilst I agree we don't look as trim as previous seasons, especially those when Apollo was conditioner, I think that a) it may be something of a tactic with regards to with the wrestling in the ruck and b) is less of a concern at this stage of the comp as it will be if we are still so 'pilsbury-esque' come the 2nd half of the season.

I don't think Wigan look any more fit than us. Both teams looked out on there feet in last 15 mins.

| Our team have arguements and text those who didn't turn up for training instead, moaning about how horrible training was and what a fool Potter is.
I very often see Leon Pryce in McDonalds at Stonecross on the East Lancs post training.

Just watched the build up to the try again, Eastmond got gassed. He was on the wrong side to be worrying about the support runner.

| If you take a look at previous seasons (the ones where we have been far and away the best team all summer only to lose the final on a wet october evening) a bit of size wouldn't go a miss.

If you've seen the replay, you'll have noticed he was jogging and covering support. He wasn't even trying to catch SOL.
If you genuinely think that was Kyle at full pace trying to catch SOL, you must never have watched him play before.

I have watched him play on many occasions involved with coaching teams in the reserves trying to shut him down, he has always been sharp off the mark but not lightening quick at full speed but certainly not slow. While he still has that zip over a short distance although i think this has been affected this year a little he certainly seems to have lost a yard of pace.
To claim he was covering support is wrong he left him for dead from the off from a scrum against the head our support was only able to catch him once he had to change direction, he clearly skinned Eastmond.
If he was jogging right from the off I would question his attitude perhaps rather than his conditioning.

I think Wigan this year are leading the way with the conditioning, but the only conclusive evidence will come at the end of the season, but at the moment we are head and shoulders above most teams we have played in this respect.

You are probably right. However, conditioning improves as the season goes on, and players start to shed weight even more so during the summer months. I would be judging the conditioning of players around September/October time, we have fallen into that trap before.

| This talk of conditioning or lack thereof is just smoke and mirrors. We've no way of assessing the absolute or relative fitness of each SL squad. None. All I'm seeing is a lot of speculation based on eye-witness evidence which is hopelessly unreliable. Just because player X isn't getting back into the defensive line quickly enough doesn't mean his cardio is not up to it. He could be injured. Or he might just be trying to cheat his way into the 10m division. And you can't base an argument on the "look" of a player. I mean, Chris Joynt looked like he was about to collapse regardless of whether it was the first minute or the last.

This is the infamous Wigan conditioning that couldn't stop Warrington crossing their line in the last five minutes. The same Warrington who have shut out teams seven times in the second half this season?
Head and shoulders my absolute left, and right bollock.

There is much more to conditioning than stamina, and i would say we have let a few teams score late, but that is down to taking our foot off the gas and getting complacent rather than a conditioning issue.
