Leeds were doing a lot of lying on as well, thought they played a hybrid game like trying to form a ruck or something.

The play the balls have been slower in all games this year, potter has made reference to it. Its more like an NRL interpretation of the rules

surely though it must be a fine line between forward bordering on borderline and flat bordering on borderline forward. The margins between borderline and forward bordering on borderline must be incredibly hard for officials to spot. Only when its forward bordering on ridiculous do you normally (though not always) get a decision!

Exactly thats what annoys me with it all, unless its a blatent one unless you are stood online with the pass you can't tell properly if its forward but it doesn't stop people shouting it.

If it looks 50/50 then people are always going to appeal for the decision, regardless of were they are stood.

On friday there was a pass directly in front of me which was called as forward by the crowd and no way was it forward, ok it was pretty flat but there was no 50/50 there at all - people just seem to jump on the bandwagon with shouting that and offside at every possible opportunity.

From a certain angle in the crowd it might have looked forward, so they are entitled to appeal if it looks forward from were they are stood.

I'd say most of the forward shouts came from our fans in the last 10 minutes

Given the fact you were watching it on tv i'll explain something which no-one else seems to have bothered.

As the Sky studio (at Saints this consists of a few sheets of metal siding, some 2 by 4 and a sheet of perspex on a scaffold gantry) and subsequently the microphones are above 'popular side' where the majority of noise at Saints comes from you will always hear shouts such as 'forward' pretty loudly.

It is the main reason why we have, in the past, been fined so much for bad language at Knowsley Road after being on TV.

Every club shouts the same things its just sometimes it is much easier to hear during TV broadcasts. The clan mentality at sports will always see people jump on the bandwagon upon hearing one person shout forward/offside.

I can vouch for this... I only heard them shout forward a few times all night and only heard them chant twice. The only people who regularly make noise there are right under the comms.
