Of course the local authority is responsible for listed buildings, that's the law. But it doesn't mean they were responsible for getting it listed in the first place.

Said activists are perfectly entitled to their opinion within the correct forum. The planning procedure was the correct forum for that. Anyway, you're twisting the truth again, they never tried to get the stadium stopped, they tried to get the industrial archeaology saved. Which is different.

All I'm asking is for you (and some notable others) to keep your party politics sniping away from here. I'm not a mod or a site owner, just someone who thinks you're spoiling a very pleasent read.

Back on thread. Anyone think that the grey walls round the North Stand and other areas benefit from being painted in red and white with a well thought out design? Stark grey is a bit boring.

I think they should open the brick walled areas up to local graffitti artists to do add some Saints-inspired urban coolness to the arena.

Or just stick a Saints timeline thing up like Everton have going round Goodison Park with a timeline of great players, key signings, trophies etc.

and for the terminally curious a picture of the Cannington Shaw kiln, which , remembering all the hoo ha during the planning process doesnt seem to have changed much since the Tesco`s was built

I worked for UG at the administrative head office in St.Albans & latterly Harlow closing down the catering operation & redesigning the new kitchen. We helped rescue a lot of the old moulds/bottles & other unique glass vessels from their store when they moved over to Harlow but quite a few bits of really old stuff was just thrown away as if it was just waste

(This included laptops going in the skips too!!!) Preserving social history for future generations seems to be bottom of the list these days. Shame really.

Has the stadium got an official opening date yet?

tours for ST holders are supposed to start december time, i dont know if they have announced any sort of official "its finished2 day but the first game is supposed to be late Jan
