Who said anything about you escaping? The picture would carry far more impact if there was an emotional aspect to it. You'd be a hero, a statue would be built of you.

Can someone tell me where the new bridge is going? Is it opposite the retail park with Burger King on? Or past the miner's roundabout down that bit? If the later, how are people expected to get across from the retail park?

It's not going across the Linkway but across the other road which leads off the roundabout that also has the retail park exit going off it. I thought there were going to be crossing lights across the Linkway from the retail park but based on what Grunts has said on here, that isn't the case. It looks like crossing from the retail park is going to be a bit of a nightmare.

Have you seen it? Its a mess, it wants knocking down, i've a lot of sentiment for the glass industry in St Helens, my family have been heavily involved in that since its inception and it's heritage but this is just an eye sore, money pit, the kind of thing we shouldn't, as a responsible democracy, be even considering spending money on when we have over 2million people out of work.

That situation isn't going to change any time soon and that area could be used as parking.

there are two crossings from the Ravenhead park , one opposite Burger king is a "suicide" crossing (you have to have eyes in the back of your head and be as fast as an olympic sprinter) no lights, and the other opposite the Renault agents is a pelican crossing with lights so you do have your choice

I think it would be a disgrace if this building was not preserved in some way, those pictures were fantastic, any other town would have had this place as a tourist attraction by now. It is in a good spot being on the new retail park to attract people, just watch the the extra people who will go to the glass museum when a large amount of people start walking past it going over the saints bridge.

With the state it is in, there will need to be a lot of cash thrown at it.

If you like it so much get your hand in your pocket, I see no reason why the council should use peoples hard earned for a building that is terribly dilapidated, been empty for many years, and will probably need to be demolished and rebuilt to "preserve it."

I never mentioned the council spending a penny on it, although they have spent and wasted our money on a lot lesser deserving projects over the years. I said the town, which can mean a lot of things, which I personally would (put my hands in my pocket for), having said that if your location is correct, its got nothing to do with you anyway as you dont pay anything towards our rates.

If you could find enough money in the local area to fix this place up you are an economic genius / very deluded.

The Labour council is the reason the thing is still standing. It was they who got it listed. Therefore, it's up to them to do something about it, or not.

You (and some notable others) have got to stop these anti-labour rants on here. It's spoilt an otherwise great thread.

Also, the bottle shop was listed by the instigation of local industrial archeaology activists through English Heritage. So if you're going to spout party political crap then at least try and get your facts right. But to be honest I'd rather you didn't mention any political party again as it's very anoying when 1) you consistently get your facts wrong and 2) hijack the thread.

P.S. See what McManus had to say about working with Marie Rimmer and the help and co-operation they had FROM ALL POLITICAL PARTIES to get this stadium to fruition.

However, while I will need to look back in time, I do remember reading that it was the (Labour) Council who put forward the Cannington Shaw site for listing, whether or not the local archeological activists pushed for it.
