| Quote ="The Jamster"Public funds used to build saints stadium, '"
Ha ha. Public funds were used to cleanse the site, build the bridge and fit the infrastructure, yes. Build the stadium? No. Although the Council is using one of the big rooms for youth work, so they will be contributing something. As for the rest of your list (bar Tesco, which wasn't actually mentioned), public funds paid for the lot.
Quote You walk down every high-street in Britain you will see empty shop space, St Helens isn't any different- what St H has done is to position itself well for when the economy does begin to grow once more. '"
What a load of tosh. I've just finished spells of work in both Wigan and Warrington and while there are always empty shops in even the most healthy economies, both those towns look to be thriving while ours has long been on the scrap heap. We've just filled Woollies with yet another pound shop. Whoopee. Meanwhile, Warrington fill their empty shops with companies selling sports gear and designer clothing. Get real. St Helens is nothing like the successful economies around us.
But hopefully the stadium will help to bring new investment into the town. The town certainly needs it.
But this is a distraction from the very important business of this thread.
Fabulous photos again Chair Maker!

It was a hive of activity today, especially round the south stand with people rushing to complete the stadium for monday.

The ground looks fantastic, and looks to be just about complete, but as far as I can tell, there is nothing to identify it as Saints ground from the outside (not counting the Saints on the seats visible from inside the stadium, or in the air!). Are we expecting to have something on the outside, or is this likely to be linked to the ground naming or rites? I would have expected something that clearly identid-fies it as the home of the Saints.

They are going to have to clear out the lowlife who inhabit the wooded copse, near to the linkway and the new pedestrian bridge. Otherwise families walking to the stadium from across the bridge, will get a wonderful high level view of people shooting heroin into their veins.
While they are doing that I think they should create a second pedestrian route to the bridge from along Warrington road, by clearing away the trees that have grown near the link road.

Not yet, no.
Apparently there are going to be a few announcements in November so maybe we will hear more about a pre-season fixture then. I think the club have to have some mini fixtures first to secure a health and safety certificate.

That is unbelievable frankly. They just hopped the wall and were able to access the internals of the main stand. Just think of the damage they could have done if they were chavs and not morally-okay urban explorers. Shocking really.
I hope Saints get the cladding fitting sharpish and set about installing some security at the place. A few rotweillers would do the trick nicely.
I hope someone has informed the club of the ease of access.

| It's the top of the turnstiles that needs blocking off and this Millhouse who took these pictures needs a visit from the Police after breaking in twice.

The turnstiles are still to be fitted out. Hopefully that will also mean putting something between the turnstiles and the top of the entrance area otherwise we may as well all just jump on top of the turnstiles and get in for free!
And my guess is you will be joining the whole of Saints fanbase in being baffled by 'many parts of the design'.
Still, we have it on good authority that Saints are also fitting cladding around the place so that should tidy it up a bit.

Cheers, although it does look like the turnstiles are fitted out, but I agree that it looks rubbish without blocking the gap off and hopefully that will be done. Personally I'd have expected that done prior to the stickers giving the number of each turnstile, that's why I suspected they were complete.
Yeah, seen the plans here for cladding, and it should really improve what is a beautiful looking stadium in parts. That is what baffles me when you see some really strange parts to it!

| fantastic pics from the 28 days later guys.
Cant condone them sneaking in, and i bet the security guys get a roasting.
As for getting in the stadium. One of Gruntfuttocks pics shows that you dont need to climb over a wall, if your sharp you can walk in through an open front door, with a conveniently placed fire extinguisher to keep the door open.
The 28 days later people are often folk who not only have an eye for adventure but have a genuine interest in recording decaying and unseen bits of our history.
In this case they have been somewhat naughty, but in a relatively playful way.
From a positive point of view they will have highlighted to Saints and Langtree, that there are weaknesses in the stadium security. This will therefore hopefully ensure that those with more vile intent dont get into the stadium to do damage.
With regard to the turnstiles I think they are a magnificent and unique feature of the stadium. Their very openness for me evokes a stylised archway to the gods of rugby.
This is far superior to the norm were turnstiles are sunken shamefully into the stand, and appear more like portals to a dungeon than a gateway to the Saints.
Oh and Saints turnstiles have been fitted with steel security shutters. They dont appear to be yet in use, but on none matchdays the shutters will be like a portcullis to the gates of a castle.
