No, but they can tell Wigan to and if the original fixture list had the GF derby at Saints then Saints can insist upon the fixture going ahead as planned. As confirmed by Saints recently, clubs are sent provisional fixture lists for discussion but ultimately the decision lies with the RFL. If the provisional list puts Wigan at Saints then Saints should formally object to any change proposed by Wigan. Wigan can have their home fixture on the Tuesday evening instead. It isn't our fault that you opted to sell your soul in the 90s and our income shouldn't suffer as a result.
Easter Monday derbies don't sell out btw and Saints might want to resurrect the Widnes Easter Monday derby.

But if Wigan told the RFL that the DW stadium was unavailable(and theywill have as the football fixtures were already in place) on Bank Holiday Monday (just as it was in 2002) then Saints will be told when to play the fixture.
Of course Wigan may play on the Tuesday. Either way there's no drama.
Let's see what next weeks lists bring before you start whingeing.

Even you can't be naive or ignorant enough to think that if the first ever Saints Wigan game at your new ground was on Easter Monday that it wouldn't sell out.
The game will most probably still be the Good Friday, but if Wigan opt to raise an objection with the RFL, then they're perfectly entitled to do so. Playing games on the Tuesday after Easter isn't exactly unheard of either.

Yes they did...and again it was to suit the wendyballers and when they wanted to play, and the mighty Wigan rugby accepting the fact they are a football team's biatch!!
Saints have our own stadium and can accomodate our traditional Good Friday fixture without anybody else interfering, its our year to host the "traditional" Good Friday derby game so why should we have to switch it to Easter Monday??
If Wigan Athletic wont let Wigan play there on the Monday, they will either have to play Tuesday night or find an alternative ground to play on!!

As indeed are Saints.
Wakey Saint - totally agree! I hope Saints do too and refuse to budge. The club will suffer if they don't as fans never turn up in the same numbers on Easter Monday as they do on Good Friday.

However Wigan Athletic have a home match themselves on the Easter Monday versus Man Utd.
As a result the tenants at the DW cant play there on monday, and its rumoured have asked the RFL to change the Saints v Wigan fixture to Easter Monday so that Wigan can play a home match on Good Friday.
This to me is a disgrace. If Wigan cannot fulfill their home fixtures then they should be forced to play away on the bank holiday or alternatively play a home match on the Tuesday night, subject to being allowed to by their landlords.
Moving the fixture from Good Friday to Easter Monday risks Saints losing a significant amount of revenue, as the monday fixtures are rarely as well attended as those held on the Friday.'"

Whether it's played on a Thursday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday or Tuesday the income from this game won't be affected.
I can't believe anyone is seriously suggesting that the first Derby match in the New Stadium will be anything else other than a Sell-out!

Don't agree. We have big shiny new bars at our ground that are a potential gold mine, especially in the first year when everyone will want to visit them.
Far more cash will be spent in these bars at the start of a bank holiday weekend than would on Easter Monday when most people are back at work the next day and carrying hangovers.

i dont like the term personally either, but this is a Saints site, so visiting fans who are offended should stay away, you are not forced to post here, or even read it.

You should be more angry with your own fans if thats the case. FWIW I do hope the Good Friday game goes ahead at Saints, but some of the whinging on here is quite funny, all this talk about Latics not letting the Warriors play. You do realise the Premier League fixtures in 2012 are set long before the RL fixtures.
Lets just wait and see what happens, the most obvious thing that will happen is Wigan will play the home game on the Tuesday which is no problem, and that wont cause any problems with those Saints fans who dont have the ability to turn up unless its a Friday afternoon.

| I fail to see how mondays fixture at the DW would have any impact on the friday. If wigan cant play on monday then the impact would be on that game. Any thing else would cause too much impact.
Follow the logic. Lets say we have widnes on the monday. If we play wigan on monday instead widnes moves to friday. This would impact on their game on friday. Probably against Wire. this would impact on wires other game etc etc until the cirlce is complete of who ever wigan are due to play on monday.
Basically move one game for wigan or move several games until you complete the link with whoever plays wigan on the monday.
The RFL have enough problems planning at the best of times.

NO, we do not need to know or be bothered about Premier League football fixtures at Saints

Saints fans just PREFER to play it on Good Friday afternoon, especially as this has been tradition for over 100 years or so. It is not our fault that a Premier League football club owner doesn't give a toss about RL tradition!!

Which is why clubs have a say (thats all clubs) on the fixtures. Wigan have for the past few seasons requested a blank month on home games, so the pitch can be refurbished. The fixtures are presented to the clubs to look at before the OK is given and they are released.

Which is why it wont be moved. One club having an issue with one fixture would not lead to a whole sale reshuffle unless you really believe that one clubs needs outweigh the rest of the fixtures that weekend .surely even the most pie headed rat boy could not be so obtuse to think that.(just doing my bit for the mods there. vermin is far to generous a classification.)

As I said.
The easy way. No impact on other clubs.
Wigan v Wire Good Friday
Widnes v Saints Good Friday
Saints v Wigan Easter Monday
Wire v Widnes Easter Monday
All clubs get a home & away fixture over the Easter period. But perhaps that's too simple for some on here.

Actually, the simple solution would be for Wigan to just play on Tuesday. It dosen't have to be Friday and Monday y'know.

Everybody knows St Helens Town is playing there as well but they are playing there at our convenience - in order to continue with Sport England funding - and not because we are subservient to a soccer club, which is the case for the mighty Wigan RLFC. If Saints want to play a game they play a game when they want to and Town have to sort out an alternative.
Incidentally, lots and lots of things are due to go on at Langtree Park. As our Chairman recently said, it is an events stadium where rugby league is sometimes played.
