Or maybe they done well out of the tendering process and have been able to up the spec

| Todays pics.
From up close the outer "corrugated" panelling looks a lot better. Especially when combined with the black panel cladding to the top and the bottom
These two pics show the current extent of the outer cladding and what it looks like from a distance
The Concrete kerbing on Peasley cross lane looks pretty substantial, were its been concreted in.
The Green green grass of home
This is from the North East corner
and this is from the North West corner
Looking behind the East stand we can see were all the concrete kerbing is going, atop the stone gabions.
The concreting has gone past the North East corner
and is now starting to be done behind the North stand
Moving onto the West stand and the side panels have been fitted to the edge of the terrace. All the crush barriers also look like they are now in the proper position
Brickwork continues on the west stand and opaque glass has also been fitted, similar to that in the South stand
Talking of the South stand this shot shows clearly shows how the ground floor is almost completely clad with glass
Finally another look at the North stand showing brickwork slowly rising

| Great pics again CM.I'm starting to think the corrigated cladding dose not look that bad.The shots of the grass made me go WOW.What do you think they will do with the baskets of stone.Driving down Peasley Cross Lane it looks like the stone baskets will be covered with something like a brick wall or something.May be a grass bank. That would look good.

| Great shots again CM. It's cool to see the grass growing!
The roof on the West Stand looks deeper than those over the North and South Stands. I can see the people who sit at the front getting wet whereas those of us standing in the West could be pretty much protected from the elements. But that just might be the angle of shots.

I was wondering that.
As I said on Red Vee, the standing area looks small in relation to the outside view (6 crush barriers) It may just be the camera angle, or are you just trying to get us Wigan fans soaked.
Generally it looks pretty good though, looking forward to Good Friday (although that fixture MAY be at Wigan)

The away end has an higher standing capacity than the home end funnily enough.
I think what makes the stands appear big from the outside and smaller from the inside is the relative height of the roofline. It is quite high above the terracing.
Also the stands themselves are bulky to ensure plenty of room on the concourses. Most grounds tend to build the back of the stand were the terrace ends. With the new Saints stadium however the stands bulge out to give more space.
The 6 rows of terracing means that they are actually quite large terraces. Possibly the biggest built in any newbuild stadium in Britain since the Taylor report. Warrington for example only has 4 rows of barriers down the touchline and 5 behind the try line.

| According to this week's League Weekly, Hattons have secured the naming rights to one of the stands in our new stadium. Having the Hattons Stand will be like having a link back to Knowsley Road!

If all the pieces are that size, this might take some time.

I'm trying to reserve judgment, but I can't help but feel as if they are missing Knowsley Road toilets so much that they implemented them into the cladding. Seems like an odd decision as it will look dated within a couple of years, but I suppose we have to back their judgement. It might look good when finished.

The wooden fencing on the stadium perimeter has been taken away so you get a good view now of the ground floor.
Particularly all the glass
Here we can see the three different types of outer cladding on the South stand
and here is a close up showing the various styles and colours
peeking inside the reception area you can see the two central lift shafts. The "Eurobond Firemaster" is i believe insulated and fire resistant internal wall or ceiling cladding.
Another lift shaft can be seen in the South East corner.
You can also see lots of Aluminium in the foreground and background, piled up, which looks like it could be for the air conditioning system.
looking at the east stand roof I could see what looked like a suspended mesh cable rack under the steel roof beam. Wonder if these will be fitted along the east stand roof, and be were the cabling for the big screen in the North West Corner will be suspended along?
end of part one
