Also a really good example oh how many people pretend to be "in the know" but are actually just clueless.

To be fair he did come close to signing for them and performed a u-turn.

So you say but anyone can say anything when they don't have to produce proof.

Also, the rumour was a lot firmer than "has come close to signing". People were saying it was certain.

They were, and I told those people to hang fire as nothing was signed and sealed.

90% on here said they didn't care if he went the wolves so must be some pretty unhappy people now.

I think that might be because we are not seeing the finished article with Sav at the moment and only the projected potential, for me he's still a season away. Maybe Saints or Wire wanted to tie him down to a longer contract, I reckon the 2 years he's signed up for is a "shop window" period for him, with his ambition to go NRL, in the meantime I hope his development accelerates to the clubs advantage.

I believe we did offer him a longer deal and im also told he turned down more money at the wolves to stay with saints.

Good for us over the short-term. Provided it's not silly money. We need as much spare cash as possible to invest in one or two more backs.

Great news for the club. It was also nice of him to say that he owed the club a debt of gratitude after the support he has received.
Hopefully the many 'supporters' on here who slagged him off on the basis of rumour and conjecture will get behind him.

It depends how you look at it. My opinion is that Andre and his representatives have been very honest with Saints from the start. He has been very clear that he wants to go to the NRL as soon as he can, we've known that for years. His agent/parents job is to get the best possible wage for him so of course they're going to pimp him around to other clubs, he's not a St.Helens lad and it's a short career.
I hope he has a great couple of years then we can wish him well.

How can anybody believe statements like this after all the daft rumours that have recently gone on about Savelio. If somebody told me that he is believed to be tall with dark hair I'd disbelieve it.

I know, a number of people said "oh it's like Kyle Eastmond all of again" and they were right. Internet rumour and gossip sold as facts. The fans then judge the player and treat him like .

It is the same suspects that come up with these lies every time. Sometimes they get something right but a lot of the negative stuff does tend to be nonsense. This one stank of BS because the rumour came from Saints fans not Wires fans. If Wire had signed Sav then surely the people that would know this would be Sav and Wire, so the rumour would have come from Wire fans "in the know".

I don't think it matters what people put or didn't put really. At the end of the day you've got to take EVERYTHING written on these forums as being what someone has been told and that it isn't necessarily true.

FWIW I think St Pete and The Yellow Giraffe are bang on with almost everything.

Anyone can go back and check my posts regarding Sav. I said the offer had been on the table for 4 month and not signed (true). I said warrington had spoke to his agent (true). I said Sav was in for a meeting with saints again regarding the unsigned contract (true).

At no point did I say he had left, was leaving or signed for warrington.

I don't recall any fans at the matches booing Andre.

But if he had signed for Warrington, then you can probably bet on the fact that they would have.

That's sport though. From the Colosseum to present day people go to sport to cheer and gain affinity with a sporting hero.
Seriously, why go and support something like tennis and Andy Murray, we are not his coach, his trainer, or his family, we've all had zero impact on his past, however he wants that support to sell merchandise direct or indirectly. So people buy into supporting sporting heroes.

But when they let down their own set of fans, then they have to expect the backlash.

Did Saints fans lay into Connelly?
Did Bradford fans give Peacock hell?
Did Wigan fans hate Longy?

It's sport, get used to it. Or watch chess.
