to be fair, both retail parks close at 8, so i cant see why there should be a huge issue on friday nights as they are pretty quiet after 7. There's no barriers on Ravenhead, and you can guarantee Burgerking wont complain for one!

think they will need to order more stock everytime saints at home. they will coin it in.

I was under the impression that the Tesco car park had been designated as a match day car park.

Only if you want to get clamped.

Tesco customers at other stores normally get 2 hrs free parking so just call in bag of crisps and a can of pop sorted.

It's not policable. I am going to get round this by the Mrs doing her shopping on game day. Provided the traffic situation isn't too tragic, which I fear it will be if there aren't lights on the roundabout. If it's an hour to get away like Wigan was when it first opened I'll have to rethink my options.

Sure I read somewhere that the reason Tesco has such a large car park is to accommodate stadium traffic on match days.

Environmental Statement Volume 13 I Traffic

The development will have a total number of 146 car parking spaces including 57 disabled
spaces plus 5 coach parking spaces. These spaces will only be available to players,
employees, essential services, visiting supporters’ coaches and conference delegates.
7.33 Two of the St Helens Council car parks may also be opened when fixtures are being held
at the stadium. There are a total of 1015 spaces available at these car parks. The car park
details are listed below:
· Chalon Way Multi Storey Long Stay Car Park – 698 spaces
· St Mary’s Multi Storey Short Stay Car Park – 317 spaces
7.34 Confirmation is yet to be received as to whether the car parks will be opened during
fixtures. However should they be opened adequate temporary signing will be provided to
ensure that spectators are aware of their availability.
7.35 The use of the Council car parks along with the Stadium car parking would equate to a
total of 1161 car parking spaces for the proposed development. This is only 38 car parking
spaces short of the standards specified by PPG13.
7.36 [size=150A Car Park Management Scheme will be developed and implemented at the Stadium to
ensure that the supporters do not park within the Tesco car park.[/size The potential for this
Scheme is still in the process of being explored. Strict enforcement mechanisms will be in
place if the supporters do park in the Tesco car park.

Just seen the latest pics. Very nice indeed. Looks to me like a smaller version of the Riverside Stadium at Middlesbrough.

I thought the arrangements with the multistorey car parks were firmly in place so to read that in fact they are not is somewhat unsettling. If the Council does not decide to support the development in this way then there is going to be absolute chaos. But then, this being St Helens, that wouldn't surprise me!

Re parking on Tesco's during matchday.

Barriers are shown on the plans to gain access and egress to the car park. I also expect that either a ticketing system will be in operation, or alternatively camera's with ANPR installed to log cars going in and those leaving.
Such a system is already in operation in many places today. Liverpool airport carparks being one such place.

I also suspect that in the short term the area currently taken up by the portacabins and builders car park, will be used for stadium parking, possibly coaches. Its quite a sizeable area and could probably safely hold over 100 cars or 10+ coaches.

I know that there is phase 2 of the scheme planned for the South west side of the site, however in the current economic climate i cannot see that area being built on for a number of years. Hence i think that in all likelyhood this will end up being used as a temporary stadium car park or overflow for Tesco's.

Sure you can park on Tesco if you spend ~5 pounds in the store.

I'd imagine Tesco will have the same cameras they have on the car park in the town centre, if you're in there for over 2 hours you'll get a ticket if you shop or not.

I must have just missed mr and Mrs Gruntfuttock, though saw a number of other people get out their cars and take some snaps of the stadium.

Anyway here are my pics.

The BIG NEWS.
We have outer cladding, and its BLACK. not red or silver as shown in the artists impressions, but BLACK.
It makes me wonder if the stadium is going to end up clad in RED, WHITE and BLACK, which just happen to be the colours of Mr Big's favourite soccer team.



Most of the glass cladding appears to have been fitted for the South stand, it can be seen at ground level going round to the West stand

I cant help put visualise the fact that these entrances with their cross bars connected to vertical posts look like rugby posts.
Wonder if this has been deliberately done so fans enter the ground from under the sticks, so to speak??



The sanded pitch looks like a golden bowling green at present.
Its also noticable that there appears to be a disabled balcony at the back of the West stand, in addition to the disabled platform lower down the stand. This upper platform isnt shown on the council planning website.

Part 2

Brick work for the West stand is very far advanced and shows what is needed to be done for the North and East stands

Her we can see the concourse with a doorway in the background. The brickwork looks at least 10 feet high as its significantly above the door frame.



This pic shows that some of the brickwork, which I suspect is for the toilet blocks, goes all the way upto the back of the Terrace.
Just to the left of the digger you can also see an exit doorway

The East stand roof on a beautiful summers day



The entrance to the east stand (as with all the other entrances), juts out from the main bulk of the stadium



Moving onto the Tesco side we can see that the ramp for the bridge has now been tarmaced.
Flowers are also being planted in flower beds





The South west corner of the stadium is now fully clad with the inner insulation cladding. The black outer cladding can also be seen.
The dirt mound between Tescos and the Stadium also seems smaller

I am pretty sure the black is going to be just an edging, oh and we walked frpm the St Helens retail park , had just ben shopping, sorry we missed you mate

To be fair this is what i think is the case as the top of the glass is black as well.

Another possibility is it being clad entirely in black and red, a bit like this years away kit.
Who knows maybe that kit design was inspired by the stadium plans

We will no doubt find out the truth in the next couple of weeks as the posh outer cladding gets fitted.

I will say that we are seeing mounting evidence of a fit out thats of far higher quality than detailed in the plans on the council website.
