I think it may be an illusion, in one of the photos you can see a roll of insulation and them rolls are pretty wide.

I go every day to the stadium, small it aint, the main stand is huge.

Good good. Have you walked on the aisles? How do they compare to Widnes?

I guess it's just the photos look small as they are so crisp and clear and there is no reference point in most of them to gauge the size off.

I've walked up and down the aisles and it's a pretty good size. The stands ain't as big as the DW but its much bigger than Widnes or it seems much bigger.

I spent few hours there and it's looking pretty high spec. I also had walk on where the pitch is going to be, they have started the drainage for the pitch. The pitch is due to be seeded next month on top of sand ( I can't recall the name of the sand).

I was pretty shocked at how close the tesco is to the stadium, I have pics showing this but not sure if I've sent them CM.

I have many more pics of the time I spent in there which I'll send on to CM for him to post on here.

A lad at work reckons there is a Wigan shirt planted in the centre of where the pitch will go. Any chance of this being true? I seem to remember similar rumours about a United shirt in the centre of the City of Manchester pitch?

The Scots builders onsite, i was talking too today, were joking to me that this will be a magnificent new stadium for Wigan.


Clearly some onsite pie propaganda has been at work.

However it does show how jealous the pies working onsite, are of our new stadium.

On the subject of the stadium, both remaining corners have now been completed, so its pretty difficult to see anything inside the stadium anymore.

Now that the roof goes all the way round the ground it looks even better.
As someone said to me today, it looks like a mini Wembley, and can be seen from all the main approach roads coming into town.

Terrace safety barriers have also now been fitted to the East away stand as well.

The Tesco car park has also started to be tarmaced and light posts fitted.

I will have the piccies to show you all online in the next day of so.

The roof is now upto the half way line. Interestingly though there if you look at the top far right of the pic you can see that some of the roof hasnt been put in place. Makes me wonder if this is were air conditioning or other plant will be fitted.



This is showing the roof at the front of the south stand. Worryingly you can see daylight through some gaps in the roof.
Get it sorted roofers, we cant have the prawn sandwich brigade getting wet.



Both corners on the Northern side of the stadium have now started to be filled in.

Terrace crush barriers are now in place on the east stand terrace



This pick is good for scaling as you can see how small the man on the terrace is. Look also at the large amount of space in the East stand



The terrace steps are quite high as can bee seen by the fact that the difference in height between steps is about 2/3rds of the height of the builders spade



finally the Car park at the Tesco side of the development has started to be laid.

Fabulous pictures again CM. Have you managed to negotiate your induction on to the site so that you can continue taking pics once the corners are all closed off?



Never mind the holes in the South Stand roof, some of those crush barriers look decidedly wobbly!



Man is this going to be an impressive looking building! Damn shame it is going to end up surrounded by retail outlets. Pity Saints hadn't been richer and able to secure some of the third phase land to really set off what is going to be a stunner of a stadium.

The day I spent in the stadium really impressed me but was pretty shocked at how near the tesco is to the stadium.

I'll email my other pics to CM now, I think I've got few showing how close it is.

Sundays update , its getting harder to see anything inside on the one hand thats great news as its being completed on the other its terrible news because pretty soon all the pictures will look the same !!
