Absolute joke. What are the club playing at? The likes of Gardner, Meli and Wellens get new deals and we let a guy like Foster go, purely he because he was the scapegoat for a poor run of form from the whole team.

Foster was enthusiastic, he was a good finisher, apart from one dodgy spell was solid under the high ball (Remember the win at the DW where he was MOM?) and a world class kicker. WTF does Ade Gardner do?

Unless the club has someone else coming in that will make this decision make sense, it appears we're paying a lofty price for Rush and Eamon's stubbornness. The way the club treated Foster was horrendous, as was the way they treated Lee Gaskell. You really do have to wonder if we'll ever get back to winning trophies.

As things stand it looks like a 31 year old Ade Gardner will be filling in on the left wing in 2014.

Now granted Gards has been an excellent servant of the club, however few wingers play on into their 30's at a high level as their fading pace lets them down. Gardner has never been the quickest and so in 12 months he is likely to get exposed for lack of pace even more than he does now.

People thinking of signing good quality NRL players need to wakeup and smell the coffee. It isnt going to happen from here on in.

So it looks like we will be going with a kid on the wing. Perhaps Saints see Percival or perhaps Ash filling in on one of the wing spots in 2014.

Just can't wait to see what the club do with his spare salary? Sit on it like they have in the past or actually sign another player with it?

I think it's a good call. As far as I see it, when he's on form he's a solid enough player who can finish and has the bonus of being an outstanding goalkicker. When he's low on confidence it's pretty much just the goalkicking. As he matures he'll probably be more consistently at the 'solid' end of the spectrum, but I don't see any raw materials that will allow him to develop beyond that tbh.

I'd rather give Foster a go than another 2/3 years of Gardner and/or Meli. Yeah, he had some bad games, but he did well enough in his first season to show that there is some potential there.

I must've missed that potential. He's a modern day Danny Arnold. Too many deficiencies in his game to make it here long term and we have a better player in Makinson in his position. Gardner and Meli are also better than him (which says alot for Foster's ability).

The problem with Dixon is that he is only 19/20 so if we signed him in say 12 months time he would command a fee.

Saints as we all know wont pay transfer fees. So thats him out of the equation.

Look were that got us with Chris Hill who is now, 12 months after we baulked at coughing up a few grand to give to Leigh, an international forward.
