Don't resist something because it's 'how it's always been' during your time. Saints need to step up on the commercial side, get bigger crowds and earn more money. If rebranding helps with that, great in my opinion.
And it's just a badge on a flash website. It's not an official name change as yet.'"
I don't see how re-branding us at Saints RL will make any difference, if people want to come and watch us they will do wether we are called St.Helens RLFC or Saints RL, there not going be put of because our names different. Its great if it does bring in more money etc., i agree, however, i don't see how a name change would do that. We are known as the Saints anyway, but our official name should remain as St.Helens, IMO.
Also, i know that the badge is just on a website, and i know that it isn't official. However, i was replying to people talking about it possibly becoming our badge and giving my opinion on that, the badge doesn't need changing.

Yes it does, because thats our badge. I will support the club no matter what badge we have, but it doesn't mean i agree with the change. For what its worth, the best badge was the 'crest' we had, and that should have stayed, however that wasn't the case. I do like the current badge though, and i don't think we need another, IMO.

Because, you live in Merseyside, you have scouse accents and wear shell suits.

I hate the name 'Warriors'. I hate the way it is slapped under our badge in a play school fashion. I thought that once Dave Whelan had been irradicated from our club we'd drop that tag and return to Wigan RLFC.
Unfortunately all the marketing research conducted by my club have proved it to be a success.
Tonight we'll play Warrington, we could have probably sold more tickets than the ground capacity by kick off, for what will probably be the largest TV audience of any weekly SL round this season.
The truth is, to successfully market and run your club viably in a new stadium there will be some bitter pills you'll have to swallow. Eventually you'll realise it doesn't matter what the club is exactly called, nor the images they use to project their identity - ultimately what'll matter to you is how you define the club in your heart.

| I will never be a merseysider, always a Lancastrian! The current logo I never liked (hope they didn't pay much to the designer who came up with it) as I just said on the stadium photo's thread, it was always so weak as Saint Billy says to the Town's crest coat of arms with the motto "Ex Terra Lucem" but the new one looks a little more inspiring.
As others have said just Hope the website is not to appease us for another month!

| I got the email too. I thought it was cool.
Although I don't want St Helens to be lost amidst the marketing - and, let's face it, to watch Saints at home the poor sods from elsewhere in the land are going to have to come to St Helens - I do rather like Saints RL. It has a buzz to it and so did the graphics and funky music. I'm looking forward to being able to access the newstadium website.
I just hope it isn't seven months' late in arriving!

Because, you live in Merseyside'"
I was born in St Helens, Lancashire matey - Merseyside is but an administrative county. Besides, if you wish to persist that "living in Merseyside makes you a Scouser", then both Warrington and Widnes are far more "Merseyside" than St Helens is. Warrington is "by the side of the river Mersey" as the river actually runs through the Town, whilst Widnes sits on the bank of the Mersey too....
Quote you have scouse accents '"
Wrong again. Most people in St Helens have a St Helens accent. They open their mouths when then talk and can even properly pronounce their t's.

I've never wore nor owned a shellsuit. Besides, what you have described there are "scratters" not scousers.

The Mersey runs through Stockport too, does that make them as 'scouse' as Warringtonians?

As much as living in a paperwork borough called Merseyside means we can be labelled as scouse does, yes.

If, as your fellow Wire states, that living in a "made-up" administrative borough of Merseyside is enough to make Scouse - then actually living by the side of the River Mersey ie geographically living on Merseyside, must, by definition, make you a scouser too.
So, by *his* definition, Stockport residents are Scousers too.
This just further highlilghts the ludicrousness and uneducated buffoonery of calling *anybody* who is not actually from Liverpool, scouse.
