Maurie has been very, very good for us this season. He has made an impact and has worked harder than ever given the weak squad we've got.

He's done well, name a better BRITISH (For all the many jingoists on RLFANS) impact prop?

I agree, I think Maurie, whilst not hitting the heights of 2006, is improving again.

Maurie: 960 metres, 118 carries, 166 tackles, 10 offloads, 39 tackle busts, 8 errors.
Burgess: 922 metres, 130 carries, 187 tackles, 14 offloads, 14 tackle busts, 6 errors.

I'm gutted for Cloughie. He's been a real stand out for us this season. Big mistake in not picking him, imo.

He could still be added though, this is only an initial training squad

Hock's not in either, which raises an eyebrow. I would've though TS would've liked to have seen Clough at training though, since he's never worked with him before.

I think Maurie's worth a spot. His form has been pretty good, and the odd bang on the head seems to be doing him good. He does bring a slightly different approach than any other british prop available and it would be tempting to take him for a bench spot.

Is there only one hooker there? Will it be Myler on the bench and Burrow as interchange hooker?

So Maurie makes more metres off less carries and a lot more tackle busts. Well done for proving Saddened right!!!


Well obviously an impact prop isn't as fit as a starting prop but what has Grahams superior fitness got to do with current form? And Maurie does make more metres per carry so whats your point?

It's part of the outcome of the RFL's enquiry into why we were so guff in the world cup.

The masterplan is to do what we've done every season since the beginning of time (i.e. name a train-on squad), but we'll call it an elite squad so that it sounds a bit more like a RU/Cricket central contract type affair.

Maurie is not and never will be a 80 min prop.

That don't mean he not fit but is a impact player who as good bursts which is very important to saints.

Roby never does 80 min but I'm sure you don't think he unfit.

Paul Anderson was great for us and never did more than 40 mins a game.

Maurie and graham are both good at what they there for.

If you want an impact prop we need this one to do a Fa'asavalu and become English.

I thought that. From those stats, Maurie is playing better than Burgess. Although, i like Burgess, wouldn't mind him down Saints.

I reckon by the time Sam is the age Luke is now he will be an absolute monster. It's easy to forget that he's around about the same age as Gareth Frodsham.

Also Sam is playing in a poor pack in a poor bulls team.

He is taking some stick this year and teams ave started to target him.

If bulls don't get some decent forwards he gonna be £d in few years like graham will be if we don't get a prop asap
