You made an assumption about why I asked the question in the first place. I'm not interested in your analysis. I never was. I asked a genuine question as to who leads the defensive slide. When I was taking my coaching badge (in 2009) I was taught that it was the edge players who 'pulled' the players across with them, rather than players being 'pushed' across. Therefore, I have always interpreted the movement of the slide as if being pulled by the edge player.

What you refer to is a drift defence when defending further out field. Goal line defence is completely different, Wilkin rushed in on the lead runner leaving a 3 on 2 for Hodgeson to exploit. Nobody was to blame for the try, it was good execution by Warrington.

Interesting, but even if the communication were to come from outside, it doesn't change the fact that Meli and Jones were out numbered 3 to 2 and took the best decision possible. I'm not suprised that you're not interested in my long winded explanation, as it clearly dismisses your implication that it was Francis Meli at fault.

I liked Jones from what I saw, he had some nice moments with ball in hand against a very physical side. Its also nice that he looks like a decent size for an 18(?) year old, with the new generation of backs like Atkins, Watkins and Hall being that bit bigger.
Can anyone who've seen him play in the juniors give us an insight into his playing style? Of the young centre's outside the first team, its Percival who's name I would recall first, but I think he's a step younger.

Look people: Meli made lots of defensive howlers 3/4 years ago and so every try conceded ever since then is automatically his fault, OK?
