Not really. Myler deserves it, even at this stage.

Couldn't see Clough getting it sadly. He didn't make Tony Smith's squad for the French game unlike some of his 'contenders' and so won't be in the press' minds enough to big him up come awards season.

Both Wheeler and Tompkins are stronger candidates on performance than Richard Myler this year, yes they're in stronger teams but Gary Wheeler is a fabulous player to watch and Sam Tompkins can be anything he wants.

Great to have 3 young players of this quality and i fear Myler will win it simply because of the hype surrounding him , Ryan Hall is a great shout , id be pleasantly astonished if whoever chooses it gave it to a winger

If he gets more game time I reckon Tomkins, I get the impression Myler standing out in a weak time is getting media overated.

So from that I would say its players under 21 at start of the season.

Clough is streets ahead of Graham this year in terms of a possible player of the year vote.

Graham has been looking jaded lately and a pale shadow of the player of last season.

Its probably a good thing he doesnt get much press.

This guy is just gonna get better and better.
Seems to have a great attitude too.

What I don't like about him is his blatant copying from Cunningham....same hair, similar build and running style. Hell, he's even started wearing the patented and trademarked KC elbow bandage!

Chris was a wide running 2nd row who was a great defensive player

Cloughy is a straight down the middle prop.

He shares more in common with Andy Platt in terms of plaaying style

Hey I created the quiet man name and thus the title of his autobiog, please ask if you want to use this ok.

He's looked jaded recently because he's been superb for the 1st half of the year. He's well ahead in terms of yards made and carries.

Cloughy has been brilliant though, he's turning into a fine forward. I think in 2 years time he'll be a regular International.

JG has been Saints' 3rd best prop this year

Spends too much time pretending to be a halfback. Needs to get back to last years form or is in danger of turning into the so called worlds best prop that is at Wigan.

Jammer's looking tired at the moment but he is still the most consistant prop in the league by some way, over 3000 mtrs so far, which is 500 more than his nearest competitor, England captain Jamie Peacock.

Myler should and will get it and not Wigan fan will begrudge it him. He plays week in week out whereas Sam Tomkins doesn't and overall has just about outplayed him.

I'm more then happy for any spotlight to be kept off Tomkins for aslong as possible. Whilst all this with Myler is going on not much is getting said about Tomkins and thats no bad thing for him.

I also think it's rather sad that some 'fans' of which ever team aren't happy to see young talent coming through because of petty rivalries.

Wheeler, Eastmond, Ashurst etc are coming through at Saints and i hope they go on to become top draw players. Hopefully we can do the same and bring the likes of Sam, Mossop, Ainscough and Farrell through because our game needs as many good players as possible.

As for Clough he's maturing into a fine forward and i was suprised to see him miss out on England selection on form alone.

Clough isn't spectacular enough to catch the selectors' eyes. He's certainly in the running for Saints player of the season, tho.

I think we make a little to much of the "fancy dan" back row players. Players like Clough are onething we're missing.

When we played the Kangeroos, the back rows very unspectaculary supported the props work load.

A backrow (plus sub) of Ellis, Clough, O'Loughlin and Burgess for impact would do very well imo (Morley, Peacock, Graham & Carvell as props), assuming we can muster a half back with a kicking game.

His no nonsense, never take a backward step may not intimidate the Aussies, but it sure as hell would surprise them when he barrelled into them at full pelt.

Trouble with any of these Saints players is they're all rubbish but they're surrounded by brilliant world class team mates who make them look good. This applies to every individual who has ever played for Saints.
