| Nothing concrete in there is there. I'm not bothered either way. If he goes we can't really argue, he's always said he wanted another crack at the NRL and after watching the Play Offs, it's clear it's like moving from the amateur game to full time professional, the gap in quality and intensity is that big.
I've never taken to Brown, I've never been convinced by his coaching abilities and he's never got his personality across like some previous coaches have done.

I'm not bothered about Brown either but I'm concerned about the impact this might have on the team, given that they appear to like playing for him. We've just managed to get to a play off semi final.

Yes, I know. I couldn't ever trust Mick Potter when he was at Saints.

| maybe this is why he always seems not all that intrested when being interviewed after a match......he always seems as though his mind is on something else......rumor had it that daniel anderson rang the club 3 weeks after they had just signed brown to enquire about the coaching position..if true why couldn't he have phoned up 3 weeks earlier!..SIGH!

| So he is one of 8 possibles.
And the appointment will be after the GF. I fail to see the problem.
No one here ever been for a job interview??? Whilst still working.
You don't have to wait to be made unemployed. If I go for an interview tomorrow it means nothing in terms of the job I do whilst waiting to hear the result.
Brown has done a decent job whilst here, rectified some signings and finished the job with Burns this year. Whether he is here to see the result of that building is irrelevant coaches come and go. Personally I hope he stays, but I'm sure he has made Saints well aware and they will have someone ready to take it on. Maybe KC to get the chance at the top.

The players have been discussing it as a possibility since July (so I'm told) - why it being in the public domain would change their headspace Im not sure?

What on earth is a 'headspace'? I hope they have something in their heads rather than just space. Mind you, remembering the way they have played on occasions I do wonder sometimes, at least in a rugby context anyway.
How the heck was I to know they have 'known' since July? Might explain some of their performances!

Headspace is the new and trendy buzzword used by people who wear funny coloured suits to mean mindset - I can only apologise for letting corporate london infect me to the point of having an office lingo outbreak on here!
It's always been a possibility, and we've all known it's always been a possibility. It shouldn't affect anything imo.
I'd go for Anthony Griffin if Brown does go. Hard done to by the Broncos given the Bennett situation imo.

| Surely powell would be too big a contract to buy out. What does he have left 4 or 5 years.

On the basis of this season I'd agree with you Pete but I have a feeling Cas may struggle next year with the players they are losing. I think next season, if they can remain competitive, will be the making of him as a coach. On the turnaround job he's done this year I agree he's a quality coach.

Thanks but no thanks.
DA has been out the coaching game too long IMO and there isn't a chance Powell comes to LP with the Cas project he is on.
Would you take a punt on getting Stephen Kearney from the Broncos?

Completely agree. Worked very well at Leeds nurturing the talents of Burrow, McGuire etc. Did very well at Featherstone and has worked wonders at Cas. Deserves a crack with Saints in my opinion and is the only obvious choice. Also it would be great to have a British Coach at our club.

| Would love to see a British coach at Saints, but can't see it being Powell as he'll surely want to stay with Cas and see what he can achieve over a longer period. I for one would like to see Brown stay, the last thing we need is another new coach after so much disruption in that department over the last few years. I really can see him doing wonders here at Saints with 'HIS' squad in place now and with the likes of Walsh & Lomax back next year and joined by Burns.

I really really hope not. I dont think he's up to it and it will destroy the legacy of what he did as a player if the fans start to turn on him
