Heard from a source that Saints will be looking overseas for a centre to replace Matt Gidley as we dont feel we have anybody in our u20 to replace him. There was high hopes of Jamie Foster but his been playing fullback for over a year now.

Heard we have made contact with Brent Tates manager over a possible move but Super League is his 'last' option.

We are also looking at a number of NL1 players.

Could we have a rumour thread as a sticky or just leave this open as i believe next season will be a big season for new signings.

So it's either Brent Tate or some NL1 players. I know which one of those we will end up with.

Brent Tate's last option is superleague! jeez i'd hope most superleague clubs would make sure he didn't really have the option. He's always been a decent player but if he were English his reputation wouldn't be too much higher then somebody like Kurt Yeamans imo.

I know Gidley is a right centre but if I were Saints i'd be looking at trying to bring in somebody like Michael Shenton who is off contract at the end of 2010. He could take the left centre berth on, Soliola could play in the pack and Wheeler could be given the right centre spot. That would give you 2 good starting centres and a great back up option.

Not sure about his knee but he's got a very dodgy neck!

He only gets himself on the field each week with the aid of a neck brace.

He's already got a Leeds Rhinos tie in his cupboard me thinks.

Brent tate would be a shocking signing!!! He has been great player but he's past it now. I'd rather stick with gidley another year than have tate.

We need a good attacking, fast, tackle breaking centre, if we can find one. Wheeler shoukld be left in the centre now as he's going to be a good en imo.

I have a funny feeling our centres next year will be wheeler and dean.

It was in the press a few weeks back that Maurie and Leon had been using video editing software to edit a DVD of their performances in order to promote themselves in a bid to get a move to Union.

Maurie denied it, but hasn't signed a new contract either.

Out of contract players try to get good deal? surely not!

I remember a few people saying that they had heard Maurie (and Pryce) were off to Union at the end of there contracts, but i don't remember seeing anything in the press. Maybe we haven't offered him a deal, as of yet.

He doesn't actually need the neck brace anymore, he only had to wear it for a period, he know wears it out of choice, says he feels safe in it

There's a long list of Chief exclusives, the short one is the one of exclusives that turn out right

as a 28 year old Australian international, I doubt he is more past it than Gidley.

I do have doubts about his knee - he missed pretty much the whole of 2009 with a recurrence of a previous knee injury - but on the whole I wouldn't be upset to see him at Saints in 2010.

12 tries in 19 international caps, and faster than Gidley.

I remember Maurie rubbishing the idea the other week. He said he does'nt know where the rumour started. He has not been using video etc. to promote a video.

If he has been using video to promote a video, who is going to make a video to promote his video promoting video?



I don't think Maurie is going anywhere, but wouldn't be surprised to see Pryce move on. Hope I'm wrong though, still a terrific player on his day.
