| Simply outstanding tonight. Sia won us the game, stopping Phelps scoring a certain try by snapping him in half and then teeing up the Mako shark with some sterling centre play.
The more I see the Meli/Sia centre combo the more I like it. Poor Turner got to Meli everytime but could do nothing about the big man scoring. He's doing really well at centre and were it not for a few patted down passes Foster would have had a ton tonight.
The Island boys are just fabulous for us at the moment. TP was like a tank again tonight.
In future we should go for big Island boys instead of Australian's.

I think Sia has looked more like the player we signed two years ago. His first season was complete mess but he's got over that now and looked pretty well.
TP is just pure class.

Absolutely. How important was it that we managed to re-sign him for 2012?

| Do you think the TP signing for you was a saints dominant decision or a Wire rejected deal.
By that I mean Warrington have signed a younger, arguably better, NRL player where TP was going to be played. Do you think that Warrington lost interest or that TP decided he wanted to stay at Saints.
This isn't a troll question and I would like to know your opinion. I know he mentioned he wanted to stay at Saints.

| The thing about signing overseas players is they could be flops, however we already know that TP is a good solid forward and we are not going to be let down by resigning peletua whereas we may have been let down by signing an Aussie

You've answered your own question mate. I genuinely think he wanted to stay and only some family issues were stopping him commit to us. I'd be very surprised if we could match Wire's offer and if that is right, then it's testament to TP for the loyalty he has shown us.

TP made it clear in the press that the only SL club he wanted to play for was Saints. He had to sort out issues at home for which he was granted compassionate leave during the off season. He sorted out those issues and re-signed for Saints. Regardless of what Wire fans thought and whatever money your sugar daddy was throwing around, TP clearly wanted to play for Saints over here and so he is doing.
I wouldn't exchange TP for Waterhouse or anyone else for that matter. He was magnificent for us last night and that isn't the first time he has been so this season.

| I know he mentioned it. But rugby players say things in the press they may not mean. I believe King wanted to be a one club man here and in Aus. Well a nice contract from the bunnies and a reason to return home and he is now a two club man.
Situations change and I can't see a reason TP would stay at Saints over a nice Wire contract if it was on the table; other than loyalty (which has no place in the business of sport).
I am unsure of my opinion. If it was anyone other than Waterhouse I would assume it was TP's decision and not Wires. I just don't know know.

Soliola meli combination definitely looks better than a shenton combo. We don't appear to miss him at all, soliola is a better centre, and we have enough second rowers to cover his change of position.

Terrible trolling. As if Waterhouse is some kind of superhuman monster. He won't be better than Puletua, I'll guarantee that. If he's as good you'll do well. And with a salary cap system Puletua can't earn more from Warrington than he can at Saints. He will also be playing at a better stadium in front of more people and with better training facilities.
Now tell me again why Warrington is so much better?

| Ok did not see or hear the match last night, so how did it go. The score line during the game made us look pretty solid. But scorelines are not always indicative.
I did say there would be 12 points in the game. So not that far off. And Royce got a defence that kept the opposition below that 16 points he mentioned at the start of the year.
He was also well pleased in his statement with the turn around from Gaskell.
So what are your thoughts. Were we comfortable, solid, stunning????
Can we get a run together for the end of the season.

We were terrible. There were large chunks of the game where we were dominated in the pack, which was not helped by us only having 15 players and Josh Perry getting injured.
Whenever we did reach the half way line we knocked on. Roby was terrible in this regard, every offload or pass he attempted ended up a knock on. Hull were no better mind, knocking on whenever they got the field position to take control of the game.
TP, Sia, Meli and Moore did well for me.

Honestly? We were terrible. It's just that Hull were more terrible than us. It was a terrible match to watch. Imagine defence hanging back, dropped ball, flat attack (no dummy runners, no offloads, poor backing up), Meli and Foster misfiring (again) and you have the match.
But that last minute try by Hull, although a beauty in itself and undoubtedly the best of the match from either side, could have been stopped before it got going had we actually been awake. Jeez, Foster missed two conversions on the trot. When has that happened during his time as our goal kicker? Had Hull been in the form they were in at the KC, we would not have won the match, of that I am quite certain.
However, we did win and for that I am grateful. I'd now like our coach to stop making excuses and start ensuring that we perform to our potential because clearly we are not doing that. Most of the people I sat with last night were wishing our u20s back again as there was more fiestiness in the team back then and better ball control.

It isn't a troll. It is a genuine question. With Matt king leaving there would be a massive packet for TP if he came to Wire (who have won more while he has been in super league than Saints) and will most likely be more than Saints can offer. Especially having biscuits such as Perry in the team.
Waterhouse is considered better than TP. We will see how well Trent does and there is no guarantee that he will be as good as he has been in the NRL but if he is then he will undoubtedly put more in than TP. Saying that I mean that TP is good at the line against Myler but has been anonymous during the tough spots recently. Puts in the hard yards but rarely in his own half (from what I have seen: I haven't seen as much as some Saints fans. I have probably been more Saints games than a lot of their fans)
If I answered why I think Wire is better there will be a stupid tit for tat. How about you tell me why TP would stay at saints (4th) instead of current challenge cup holders and top of the league WArrington (who would pay him more) instead of cause they were the only top 4/5 team offering please.

I unfortunately couldn't get to the Hull game. However, I gave a balanced view of him in the many performances I have seen. I would like him at Warrington but he hasn't been amazing from what I have seen. If we had signed him I would have been optimistic, though.
I would be interested in what order you *edit* ranked your forwards. And even more so where you ranked him out of the forwards in super league.
However, my point was not about the quality of TP; we can argue about that all day. My question pertained to why TP wouldn't sign at Wire and instead stayed at Sts.

Agreed. Maurie was another good example. There would appear to be a good number playing RU that seem to be ideal for RL - especially in the backs where the transition is less of a problem. I suspect the salaries may be a little less as well. They also seem to like the lifestyle offered by Eccleston.

Roby was very doubtful for the hull game. Royce didn't want him to play but robes put his hand up and played.
His eye socket injury has got infected and causing swelling around the eye. I was talking to him last week and he looked like the elephant man.

Look as far as I'm concerned, TP was offered a 1 year deal from Saints, he had trouble at home and so was not sure if he could stay, so starting looking at options in Oz, because of this, wire tried to come in with a steal and offered a 2 year deal. With a 2 year deal better than a 1 year, he had to consider it. So Saints offered a 2 year deal and that gave Tony what he wanted. He either did not get the offer he wanted from Oz or did not get an offer. So he took the Saints 2 year deal. At the same time Saints were looking at Trener house and Laffranci. But we could not have all 3 due to the overseas ruling. With TP signing, that's a prop on the books. Laffranci offers Royce the balance he wants in a loose forward, so Waterhouse was not an option as we are pretty ok for 2nd rowers (Moore, Wilkin, Soliola and Flannery). I would expect Flannery to get another 1 year rolling deal after this years performances, Moore and Wilkin have been really good.

His eye infection does look awful. I would imagine he'll be rested for the Wakey game to give time for it to heal. It will never heal on a rugby pitch, that's for sure!

Robes doesn't get the final word on that though so if Royce puts his foot down then Robes will just have to take a seat in the stands! I hope he puts his foot down. We want Robes fully fit for the business end of the season and infections need time away from grotty places like rugby pitches. Besides, we don't want to be a one man team. Surely we have the staff to win a match without Robes on the field? We do on paper anyway.
