| It was a hard night alround for people trying to take aerial kicks, but Ade was truly hilarious.
He needs to spend all this week on catching practise. Next week Hudds will have a field day against him.
At least he took his two trys well.
The second one in particular was a very good wingers try

I thought it was nice to see him and Gidley working in partnership again. It seems like ages since I've seen that.
Well, except when they clashed mid-air because they forgot to tell each other that they were going for the ball.

| I thought he was less fallable than Gidley tonight. Gidley's kicking the ball out from the kick off could have cost us the game. Ade's drop in the second half was to be filed in the 'under pressure' category and the one in the first half he didn't even touch.
You lot slag him off for it, but he held onto several really tough high balls tonight, one over his shoulder was mega impressive, as was the one where Gidley took him out in the air. His finishing for his tries was superb too.
If you lot want a scapegoat look at Wello. What does he do these days?

No he wasn't. But he's had one good game this season and hasn't been consistently good for a while now.
With Gardner, I feel the positives are outweighing the negatives at the moment. If there is a better winger available then fine, but if not it's not like he's a major problem for us. Plenty of other areas we need to improve in.

To find out how valuable Wello is to our team, remember how we fell apart defensively soon after he left the field. That man does wonders in organising the defence, he reads the game so very well and he will run to hell and back to defend the line. He lacks pace but that's his only weakness IMO (and one that has only really become important in recent years as the role of FB has changed). And he's had more than one good game this season.

| Thought Ade Gardner had a decent game took some really difficult balls and put some good tackles in. He took some big hits as well, I think some fans should get off his back.

| We beat a pretty good Wire team. Gardener scored 2 tries, Wellnes defence and running the ball out was awesome. Every player has some frailties. Stop knocking them and get behind them.
Come on you Saints.

I think we looked far safer at the back when Wellens was still on the field. He went off and things started to go wrong (after we stupidly went for the two and made a mistake from the kick-off, that is...)

| When Gardner first broke into the first team I thought he'd develop into a far more PHYSICAL winger than he is today. I often remember the way he used to knock off the first defender on a kick return and threaten to break through the defensive line. So much so that me and a few others thought he might even move to centre. It's almost as if he somehow missed his final growth phase, or it came early.
Given that he's never been blessed with pace, I'm surprised the club didn't try to bulk him up a touch to see how he went.

We got him from Barrow, where he was playing centre IIRC

I don't remember it that way, I remember a slight winger.

I must see a different player, he's bulked up a lot IMO.

Id agree he has bulked up somewhat but this seems to have made him slower but doesnt seem to have improved his impact when he hits the line. We could lob an inflateable doll at the defensive line and it would have more impact than Ade does ..

| He's turned out to be a fairly average winger and I'm not sure he's going to get any better. He rarely breaks the line, can't drive it forward like Meli and can't go round the outside of defenders. In defence he's not the worst, but he's far from the best.
He's been fortunate to play in some excellent teams, but is he any better than the likes of Steve Hall or Anthony Stewart? Not really and if we can get a decent winger or two through the U21s I think he'll be off. Had Meli not also been off contract this year I'm not sure he'd have had his contract renewed, as he is, Gardner may get another.

You obviously didn't see Mr Aliberts' tackle on Richie Myler v Quins when the tryline beaconed.

I know Quins are struggling to find the tryline, but that's ridiculous.
