I've not read it but a lad in work reckons there are several things the HMRC could bring him to task about. I don't see why he didn't release it upon retirement.

Don't talk wet - that story has been around for a good while now, as Martin has already mentioned.

There's plenty of players who've had bets in games that they've played in, including the majority of a squad who lost a final against unfavoured opposition, conveniently when the club decided that they wouldn't pay said players a winning bonus.
