Has anyone any idea what season, if any, that Saints played in an all white strip. Been suggested that it is sometime late 60's to mid 70's, but I cannot remember it. Not sure if it was a one off or a complete season.
Oh and yes I have looked on the heritage site at shirt history.

I can remember Wigan playing in all white I think in a CC semi final but I don't remember Saints playing in all white.

I have watched us since 1968 and have not known us playing in all white, however I do seem to recall seeing a photo of Tom Van Vollenhoven in a home game and he had an all white kit on, so that would suggest 1957-68 era.

There's photo on page 57 of "Marching On" showing four players in white shirts with a badge on the left chest side and the write up is of the Championship Final 1932. Difficult from the text to make these 4 players "Saints", or who they are, but it stands to reason that the are Saints players otherwise why be there?

I've seen that photo spmewhere, I'm pretty sure Murphy is in the same shot so that would make it pre '67

Voll did play a guest game for Lancashire, but then again that wouldn't have been in white.

I seem to recall us in an all white kit at some point..not in my lifetime I mean, but swear I was at a charity auction and the shirt I bid on was plain white, with the town crest on it... could be wrong though, I had drunk almost a pint of ale during the day.

This is as described to me, so maybe it's out there somewhere!

I've got a book of Saints v Wigan derbies with some photographs from mid to late 50's without either a V or a hoop. However, because the photos are black and white it's impossible to say whether or not the shirts are white.

For some of the more "mature" (old btwards) When Wire beat Saints 5 - 4 at Central Park in the 1959 - 60 Lancashire Cup Final did Saints play in Black with a White Vee?

I remember going to the game and Saints switched Voll to the left wing to mark Brian Bevan. Bevan scored the only try of the game, and I seem to remember Saints playing in black.

I was only 11 at the time so maybe my memory is playing tricks.

I dont think we played in black in that game, I've seen a pictureof Bevan scoring a try while Voll tried to kick the ball away.

I'm pretty certain that the black kit with the white V was at the begining of the 61/62 season. We started the season badly, people said the change of kit was bad luck so it was dropped.
I may be a year or so out but it was defiantely after the Wembley '61 and before Wembley '66

Maybe I've got the year wrong but at least I was correct with the black shirt with the white vee.

That is never a white shirt in the memory of man. It is a completely different shade to the shorts which are white.

To me it looks like it could have been a pale blue for it to show up so light in the photo.

I did suggest in my initial post that they weren't white. Pale blue, nay, pastel blue sprung to mind
