The fact is he would of gone to them had they offerd the same money as Hull.

I'm not too sure tbh - if they offered more than Hull then maybe it would have been tempting but I dont think he would have been that keen to work with Nobby.. that ofc assuming that Noble will be at the pie dome next year ..

He's also in a position where he doesn't need to work with a coach that he either doesn't like or doesn't like him. I would say that his actions whilst playing for GB the other year would show that he wouldn't choose to work with Noble again

Sean's a winner. Clearly he thinks Hull have more chance of winning a trophy than Wigan.

I personally think he went for the wedge and I don't blame him one bit, I think he is exactly what Hull need and there was no point in him going to Wigan to kop stick from both sides which is what he would of got more than likely.

I would be suprised if Wigan offered him anything actually, the Gleeson Longy combo would not have been beneficial to the squad and Tommy Leuelai is a more than decent SH anyhow

Smart move by Long. The publicity won't do his career any harm.

But imagine if he had signed for Wigan - he lives locally, and he clearly remembers the dummy spitting that went on when Gary Connolly and Andy Platt signed for Wigan from Saints, not to mention the damage done to Connolly's parents' business.

Long has young kids, and a lot of people know where he lives. I doubt he would want his house to be vandalised.

Hell, I doubt he would even want to be name-called. He walks the walk, but he's a bit fragile underneath, methinks. You only have to look at what he did in Australia during the tri-nations to see that.

At least if he moves to the other side of the country, he doesn't have to witness what people will say about him, and he doesn't have to be here to experience it.

Of course I am. All this talk of Long not wanting to sign for Wigan because he loves Saints is rubbish. I don't doubt he has grown to love Saints, given that he has spend virtually all his career there, but at the end of the day, where your career and LIVING is concerned, pound notes do the talking.

Except, of course, to where your safety and the safety of your family is concerned.

Long is daft but he is not stupid.
