Have I missed something!

When I picked up my season tickets I was told that the Stobart Stadium Swipe Cards (needed to get through the Auto Turnstiles at Widnes) will follow in the post.

I don't seem to have received mine - has anybody or am I jumping the gun?

I was told that we will receive them in time for the first home game.

No I've not got mine yet either, they basically admitted they won't be here for the start of the campaign by saying you can get in with just your season ticket!

5 of us still awaiting ours. They have another couple of weeks before we actually need them though, so there is still time yet.

Whilst we're on the subject I remember something about one or the other (ticket book or swipe card) being sent off to be barcoded which was this?

I'm assuming it is the swipe card given my tickets don't seem to have any and the cards are still not out.

Probably the cards. We still have to take our books with us though to each match just in case there are any problems with our cards.

It shouldn't be a problem with just the cards. If they don't work just take then to a manned (or ladyed) turnstyle and they will let you in.
That's how it works at Wigan, but I personally have never had a problem.

Will they use the same cards at your new ground and just reprogramme them?
At Wigan new cards are issued about every three years.

The cards have been sent out to some people. Mclennan from these boards got his swipe card over the weekend.

Seems like they may be sending them out in batches.

Probably Widnes not used to having to produce thousands of cards.

When we collected our Season tickets we were told we had to take the new season ticket books with us as well in case the swipe cards didn't work for some reason.

I was told the same.

He didn't, it was his season ticket book.

So what's the point of the card if you still need the book?

Other than to prove once again that Saints still can't organise a p!ss up in a brewery.

Will there still be people operating the turnstyles?

If not, then they won't have to pay there wages.

When I picked up my tickets before christmas, I was told I would get the swipe card in about 10 days time.
Can't say I am surprised.

TBH no one can say at this stage. When they unveiled the seating plans etc last year I asked whether we would use smart cards & unmanned turnstyles a la the Headingly, at the new stadium, especially given our sponsorship by Livesmart: who deal with such technology and was told probably not as the tech would not be ready by then. I can only assume the guy telling me hadn't a) been to Headingly or b) heard of any of the tech/organisations already using existing RFID or contactless smartcard tech.

To cover their s if they cock up i'd assume.
The cards will more than likely be sent out before the first home game, i think its just a waiting game. People need to relax!

Cards seem to work everywhere else, im glad we are moving on with the times, as much as i loved that ticket book its much easier having a card.

We have had a letter this morning from Saints telling us our swipe cards should be with us for the Wire game. We have to put it in the plastic sleeve of the season ticket book with the barcode showing and take them both with us to all home games. If for any reason it doesn't arrive in time for the first game then we have to use our voucher from our season ticket book.

I didn't. Just my season ticket, no swipe card with it.

So with our first home game two weeks tomorrow, not one person has got a swipe card? ahh the club might have moved but its reassuring to know the admin team are still the same

To be fair to the club, they did say in the shop weeks ago that they had already gone off to Widnes. The delay could be at the Widnes end and not the Saints end.

Damn. I had my rugby bus pass neatly tucked in there! I can see me losing one or more of these things at some point during the season.

I don't see why I need both. I have the swipe card, even if the reader isn't working, why can't i just show my card to the turnstile attendant?

I asked that at the shop when i picked up my season ticket, i think the poor girl i asked brain crashed as she just froze lol

I presume it's to make sure that only hose people with tickets get in should the card readers not be working. By insisting that you bring the paper version as well, in the event of that happening they'll just rip the appropriate voucher out of your book. If you don't have your book with you then it's your own fault as we've been told several times that we must bring both to the Halton Stadium to ensure entry! This will stop unscrupulous people passing their seasoncards on to their mates and saying the reader isn't working/ recognizing my card.

i know i seem like im moaning, but they should either believe in the technology or not have it, the system works at countless stadia across the country
