Why not, its an excellent negotiating tool.

The quote in the RL press though was not remotely indicative of someone considering using it as a negotiating tool. He said that he couldn't dismiss anything in the future because things can change: the club might not want him anymore or family life might change. He also said that his heart was at the Saints, that he had always wanted to play for Saints and that he could see himself being a one club man. Further, he said that the decision to extend his contract (which was agreed to without the caveats Tomkins appeared to need to keep him at Wigan) was an easy decision to make.

I'd ignore what some people say. Such things aren't worth the bandwith they have used up in order to appear on the screen.

And I see you don't say RU are going to move for Mr Lomax.

Whereas last year Holy Sam apparently did dismiss a future move to RU; yet it took a rule changing, record breaking amount of cash to get him agree (again) to honour just a fraction of the contract he only signed last year
