Sorry but I don't think either of these were EVER world class wingers!

The British game has almost entirely ignored the development of fullbacks, centres and wingers for years, preferring instead to import. This leaves us incredibly vulnerable internationally. Saints do not appear to be addressing this deficit either at present, which I think is short term thinking, especially with the two wingers we have at present. It is possible we have, quite by accident, fallen upon two very good centres in Wheeler and Eastmond although both should probably play elsewhere as they are both talented individuals who should have lots of ball playing opportunities.

Easy to forget but Joey Hayes was looking like being a top class winger in his first season, and did play for GB on the 96 tour, but never got over his injury. Before that he was quick, strong and scored a hatfull of tries.

Danny Arnold was a Ste Tyrer-esque phenomenon who had one or two good games and got everyone excited, then just turned out to be not very good.

On the main topic though, GB hasn't produced a world beating threequarter since Robinson. Furthermore, when you think about the other GB backs that were top drawer from the last 20 years, the majority of them were from union.

If it was only Sykes that wouldn't be much of a problem.

If I was MP I wouldnt be taking much notice of your opinions.....
