Quote ="nikos"4th place - he mentions Tiger Woods and Federer, I too think in popularity stakes we are behind tennis and golf, just look at how many viewers the BBC got for that Murray evening match at Wimbledon - more than SL get in a season aggregated?'"
In fairness though Wimbledon is a sporting set piece much like the challenge cup and Murray was always going to be a HUGE draw this year. I'm not sure its a popularity battle in terms of viewing figures as those two sports are covered on an event basis rather than a weekly round thing.
The (theoretical) question is that if people were sat flicking through the sports channels on a saturday afternoon and had a choice between:
The FA Cup
The Heineken Cup Final/The Six Nations/Lions
The Ashes
One of the Majors/The Ryder Cup
The Challenge Cup Final
The Wimbledon Final
The Monaco (or another) Grand Prix
Fishamania!
Which would people be most likely to watch first?
Not to mention which of these would get the most pre-event advertising?
