| Quote ="Big Jim Slade"Yes it's a wake up call, but by christ Saints got some help from the referee to get into the lead in the first place. That pass from Hurrell that the touch judge was completely happy with but Kendall in a worse position gives as forward? Sure, we've done plenty wrong, but once again against Saints this season we've not had the rub of the green'"

| Gulf in class on show tonight. Saints stayed with us when we were on top, then settled the game in the 20 after half time.
Nice to get a couple of consolation tries, but saints had switched off by then

Big gulf in class. Better in every department (including the coach) with half a team out.

| Overplayed a lot tonight, right side defence was non existent, but it was refreshing to us trying to throw the ball about a bit.
A million miles off the top 4, but what did we really expect?
On a plus note, Merrin was outstanding, tackled everything that moved, and Donaldson grafted his knackers off again.

| Must have been a bonus for offloading tonight.
The worse and moronic the better the bonus.
Last couple of games we have steadily applied pressure, built up a head of steam and gone for the kill.
This week? Pretend the ball is a time bomb. We couldn’t live with them once they upped the gear. Put ourselves under pressure and looked gassed after 10 mins of 2nd half. Bar the late “rally” where we even in Saints half that second period?

| Strange how Wigan & Saints’ youngsters step up so easily, and they have so many ready to step up. Our youth system is appalling considering the catchment area. Maybe it’s been rectified recently, I really hope so. Wigan have quite a few forwards ready for first team action, they take their chances and bust a gut when given the opportunity. There’s so much catching up we have to do on the ‘rugby’ side. What’s Dean Bell up to these days?

When you’re struggling and losing games you start thinking players aren’t trying, when really it’s a lack of quality. You start favouring ‘triers’ like Donaldson, like we did with Hulme in 96.

| Odd just having one prop on bench (again) - compounded by Ava going off early doors injured. Thought Peteru ran hard for the limited minutes he got on the pitch.

| Thought Leeds looked a poorly coached team reliant on miracle offloads and give-it-to-Konrad.
Coach and scrum half are the big priorities I’d say.
Well done to Leeds on the guard of honour by the way, touch of class.

I thought we looked light on the bench tonight. Donaldson as usual tackled everything but we struggled with getting into them.

Yep agree.
Coach, Scrum Half and another good prop.

Konrad’s really hit and miss. The sort of player a poor team cherishes but a title challenging team wouldn’t take a gamble on.
All GF winning teams have a nucleus of quality homegrown players. We’re years away from that. Players like Roby deserve winning titles. Awesome player over the years.

| Assuming we stay up that's the game Sinfield needs to have in mind in the off season. Not one-sided wins against really bad sides, but how poor we look against a well-coached team with better players in key positions.
We've got mid-table halfbacks, a mostly duff set of props and our backs aren't that great either.
Sts have a very good coach but also some far better players in key positions. Both on paper and on the field we look like the sort of team our title-winning teams would have put a lot of points in when in the mood.

He’s a damaging player with the ball but so so flat footed in defence. One of Naiqama’s tries was pretty embarrassing for him.

| Look there’s no panic here; Saints are clearly a better side than us and we would expect to get beaten by then most times. Same for nearly all other SL clubs.
They got a roll on with a couple of scrappy tries from kicks. Let’s stop flinging the usual abuse at players just because we lost. The lads tried very hard tonight and troubled the runaway league leaders at times.
Quite impressed with Handley and Lui tonight. The pack struggled when Ava came off I thought.
We look undercooked in some areas (thought Walker had a couple of bad plays tonight) and some senior players aren’t 100% fit.
Let’s hope London lose again and we’re as-you-were. We don’t look like a relegation side at the moment and haven’t for a while now.
Some marginal calls on players to make for 2020. We do lack quality still though and need to add it, in addition to brining a couple more Academy lads into the mix.

This in a nutshell yes. We really could do with having another first team look at McLelland and Holroyd before season end; and hopefully Ward will be back next week.
Myler actually played well in patches tonight, and I’m not his #1 fan.
My takeaway from tonight was that we’re not a million miles away, but the gap that exists will be very tricky to bridge. Sinfield really needs to show some good judgement now if we’re to get anything from next year.
More likely it will be 2021 before we’re challenging properly again.

I do agree with this, Saints have pretty much done that to every side in SL this year (ironically bar London)
Handley continues to impress, we just clocked off for 20 minutes and you can’t do that against a team as good as Saints, even with players missing.
The biggest thing lacking from recent weeks was our line speed in defence, we backed off way too much, its a shame we couldn’t capitalise in the first half when we had ample opportunities
