Here's another challenge for tvoc, albeit one he'll deal with easily I'd expect, we've led Saints by 4 points this year, what were the margins in the other years?

June 6th 1987?

2004: Leeds by 15, St Helens were 5th

2005: St Helens by 3, Leeds were 2nd

2006: St Helens by 10, Leeds were 3rd

2007: St Helens by 1, Leeds were 2nd

2008: St Helens by 1, Leeds were 2nd

2009: Leeds by 4, St Helens were 2nd

If you look at these figures the results in 07 & 08 weren't surpising considering how close both sides had been over the full season.
In 04 you could argue it would have been a travesty had we not won the GF, similarly for Saints victory in 06.
In 05 there wasn't exactly a gulf between Saints & us making the fact that we were cheated out of the GF doubly hard to take.
In summary, over the past 5 years when Saints fans would have you believe they've been robbed of their right to call themselves champions that only applies in one year.
Over that period we have more right to consider ourselves the the best side in the super league.

Hodgson should be favorite to win. His regular outstanding displays and his 84% success rate in goal kicking this season have made him the standout player who has had the most influence on their teams's success (a very creditable 3rd in the table and Wembley finalists)

Whereas the other two candidates are no better than many other grafters in SL. Graham has not been as effective as last season and Morley's efforts did not get the expensive Warrington side into the top 8.

More carries, more metres, more metres per carry, more busts and more tackles despite being in a much weaker pack suggests that is bollox.

That also equates to you been over-reliant on him and the rest of yer pack been workshy!!!

Besides the point when assessing whether he's been as good as last year.

Not only is he having to carry the ball more, he's making more metres when he does, despite being flogged.
