| Quote ="Remarkable_Rhinos"Ah yes, well spotted. I'm particularly irked by Earth/earth. Likewise with World/world. I'm sure that world is grammatically correct these days, but it will always be World to me.'"
It entirely depends on how you're using it. If you are referring to the Earth, as in this planet, it is a name and needs a capital. It is entirely possible to use "earth" in other contexts, including as soil or ground, without capitalising.
Similarly, when referring to the World it should have a capital, whereas if you are referring generically to a world, as one of many, then it doesn't need a capital. At least that's how I've always understood it.
Similarly in my work I may refer to something being done by a department, university or trust. However, if I mean to identify a specific department, university or trust, than it is the Department, the University or the Trust.
I could be wrong of course, but nobody has ever complained.

| "Done" instaed of "did".
Shearer is an expert in that.
Countless Scottish soccer players etc using "went" instead of "gone".
The use of "v" instead of "th", it's "think" not "fink" for example.

Would that not be "f" rather than "v"?

Well I heard "mintimperial"by blokes I worked with when I left school in 1962 and it was among of other rhyming slang expressions they used and and some still used today. Some have gone out like "Donald Peers"=EARS,because todays generation have never heard of Donald Peers

| Not quite on topic but:
WHERE I HAVE & HAVE NOT BEEN ...
> I have been in many places, but I've never been in Cahoots. Apparently, you can't go alone. You have to be in Cahoots with someone.
> I've also never been in Cognito. I hear no one recognizes you there.
> I have, however, been in Sane. They don't have an airport; you have to be driven there. I have made several trips there, thanks to my friends, family and work.
> I would like to go to Conclusions, but you have to jump, and I'm not too much on physical activity anymore.
> I have also been in Doubt. That is a sad place to go, and I try not to visit there too often.
> I've been in Flexible, but only when it was very important to stand firm.
> Sometimes I'm in Capable, and I go there more often as I'm getting older.
> One of my favorite places to be is in Suspense! It really gets the adrenalin flowing and pumps up the old heart! At my age I need all the stimuli I can get!
> I may have been in Continent, and I don't remember what country I was in. It's an age thing.

The obvious problem there being the suggestion that eating celery is an adequate response to any feelings of hunger!

Well it would stop you feeling hungry in the short term, but wouldn't (apparently) be a calorifically wise choice to sustain energy levels

| I was in the pub with a few mates (with varying interest in RL) while the rugby was on so some of us were watching while some were playing pool whilst tuning in and out of the game. Weller Hauraki puts a hit on someone and one of my mates asks me who the hell the big fella is so I say "It's that Hauraki who they've just signed" quick as a flash my mate who has no interest in RL looks up from his shot in disbelief at a "big Iraqi bloke" playing rugby, to this day he thinks there's a big bloke from Iraq playing for the Rhinos.
